Tilt watch uses light, shadows to tell time.

Ron says: I was playing around withe the iPad tilt function and wondered if I could make it work into a watch.

The watch should be sleek, sophisticated and simple. You see a lot of tiny cubes. By changing the tilt of the watch you change direction the light shines on the cubes. The numbers also consists of the same cubes but they stay the same so you can see them by changing the rest of the cubes by tilting the watch. Sounds hard but it is simple.

Horologicode LCD watch uses barcode to tell the time.

Sam says: The inspiration for this concept comes from barcodes. My idea was to use a barcode not just as stylish display element but to tell the time in a way, the wearer can actually decipher. Radioactive watch is really radioactive …but safe.

Sam Says: I was experimenting with hexagon based numbers that are derived from the classic 7-segment-digits everybody knows. There were many ways to do it and one of them strongly resembled the radioactive sign. I played around with the time display and saw, displaying all four numbers next to each other doesn’t look good and would take the iconic expression away from them. So I decided to use a phased display like the Denshoku, displaying one number at a time. That way, each number comes into it’s own.
