Design submitted by Peter from the UK.
Peter says: “This design was inspired by other fan designs on the blog. The designs in question use geometric shapes to point out the appropiate positions on an analogue style face.
These designs look fantastic but seem to have technical issues. Either they would require an incredibly dense LCD or epaper displayΒ or at certain times of the day the geometric shape could be quite compromised.
This design uses a similar geometric based pointing system but with a 12/5/9 format which gets around these technical dificulties but as the numbers can be placed where ever is most optomised for the LCD display. I call this version “Triaxial”.
The time is basically a 12/5/9 format LCD (could also work with LEDs or e-paper) the numbers are etched into the case surrounding a matrix display. The display points to the numbers in geometric shapes, these could be a multitude of different shapes.
In an ideal world the display would be used in conjuction with touchscreen controls which would allow the user to imput their own style by simply drawing onto the display. If they sketched a triangle for example the time would be described by the three points.
Styles could also be uploaded from a computer or smart phone if the direct imput method was not viable.
This design could offer many cusomisable styles to the user which would allow it to appeal to a wider audience than one specific design. If the style could be input by the user than this would appeal to the more creative.
The case shape and size would suit a unisex market and would be available in a selection of finishes.
The geometric style pointing system used in conjuction with the 12/5/9 time telling format would set this design apart from others. The customisable element would further add to this.”
Thanks Toky for adding this design to the blog too! π

Nice, pixely and simple. So cool that you show us different display types that are all possible with the same display. That’s a big plus! Would make a nice addition to TF’s catalog π

Hehehe, I can see where some of your inspiration came from…=) Nicely realised concept, fresh colours and I too like the pixely display. I also agree with Sam that the display options are a big plus. The idea of choosing which by a touchscreen sounds like a fantastic idea. Best of luck sir!

Cheers for the support! Yeah I didnt have to look too far for the inspiration. The basic premis is a good one I think, and this version just makes it that little bit simpler. Cheers for the feedback sir! D

If possible, a metal strap for me? Just a matter of personal taste.

I’m not a big fan of LCD watches, but must say this is one I like, especially the design of the casing and the numbers on all 4 sides. 5 stars!

I like the styles you show. Although I don’t have the creative skills myself, the idea of user designed styles is a winner. I’d go for the first or last styles you show, cos I prefer minimal light displays. Definitely a ‘must make’. 5*/Y

Thanks a lot Mushy! I’m sure with the input your own style of hands/markers you could probably come up with something even better. I should have asked people to link their suggestions to this post in retrospect. Cheers for the comment and the vote sir! π

Design reminds me to classic Seahope watches but the concept is pretty decent. A good watch and deserve to be considered! Good luck sir!

The renderings are really nice, I wish I could try it on.
However, it is strange to see this type of time telling on a matrix display that could also show normal time digits…

The matrix type display would give many time telling options. So a digital format would be a sensible addition. Cheers for the feedback sir! π

I like the stitching on the band. I like that the color is also used inside the band. My fav is the red. I prefer the silver chromed case. I like that the 0-5 are sketched both on top & under.
I like the idea of being able to switch between multiple display mode. My fav is the central square with 3 corridor/tunnel going to the borders. I prefer the negative display ( like the 1st blue ) I would prefer if the single line version wouldn’t pass by the center.
If it was made with an always on tech, I would buy.

Hey Makko,
Cheers for the supportive wordz sir! The display styles are suggestions only really as I propose a system where the wearer could choose a preset style or add their own. So if you wanted a single line version that didnt pass through the center you could add it to the stored styles. Nice colour combo choice. Lets hope one day you would be able to choose those combinations on the watches page! Cheers again! π
