Lukas says: There is something magical about a big city skyline, something that makes you feel free… During the day you can see the ivory skyscrapers basking in the sun, reflecting its rays. At nightfall, when the lights and neons start shining, you can feel a chill breeze on your face. This is what Tokyosky is all about.
Inspired by Tokyo’s magnificent skyline, Tokyosky features a modern, timeless, architectural design representing a shiny skyscraper. Just turn it on and let the night skyline of Tokyo show you the time as you’ve never seen it before. The watch is based on a 12/5/9 system, each block (h/10 min/1 min) represents a famous Tokyo building. The sun turns into a moon between 9 PM and 5 AM. There is also a date mode, an alarm mode and an optional light up animation mode.
Tokyosky is the perfect watch for all people who love the night, who love to party and who love Tokyo. But its modern and smart design could also suit businessmen, architects, engineers, designers and everybody who loves the big city life.
Personally, I have never seen a skyscraper-shaped watch with an architectural, skyline based theme and I’ve always wanted to have something like that. Tokyosky is simple yet sophisticated at the same time, so it can be worn at any time of the day and on any occasion.

I really like it π ItΒ΄s modern but still traditional. Super stuff not only for young and successful people but also for those they are just in love with japanese skyline π I would definitely buy it for my boyfriend. Good luck ^^!!

Very nice looking idea! I actually prefer the mono-chrome one. The coloured ones are too “fun” for my personal preference.
A mettalic looking one with mirror LCD would look quite sophisticated in my book.
My only other suggestion would be to have a faint wire frame around the blocks so when there are only a couple of blocks illuminated the display still looks like the skyline. These lines could be part of the display or maybe etched into the glass for a subtle extra dimension. Nice work either way so 5/Y and welcome to the blog! π

I’ve been working on this watch for quite a while and I’m really happy with the outcome, I hope you like it as much as I do! π A big thanks to you all for the comments and to Tokyoflash for publishing this design. π
@Pete, thanks for your constructive opinion!:) The monochrome picture was meant to show the shape in detail, with the glass off, so you can see the placement of the LEDs. Tha colors should resemble the actual illumination of the real-life buildings they represent, but a one-color version would of course be possible. I can understand that not everyone likes it so funky and colorful, but hey – it’s Tokyo! XD. At first, I was also thinking about the etched countours, but I wanted the display to stay a little bit cryptic and abstract, slowly building up to reveal the actual shapes, that’s why I’ve chosen an untypical light-up sequence. The simplest display type would be a normal LED array covered with black smoked glass for a nice diffuse look. Another option would be an OLED display, if someone likes it sharp and high-contrast. The display and the glossy case could be seamlessly covered with a thin glass-layer like a typical smartphone.

I prefer the multicolor version. I would prefer another material for the strap. I like The case, specially the small dent in it.
I like the moon/sun variation. I would prefer if the hour would start at either the top or bottom & end at the other side. The 9 single minute # 1-5 could be full width, start at the bottom & end at the top. Then, 6-9 would use the same blocks, but would be read left to right. The 5×10 are good.
I like Pete idea to have wire frame around the blocks/something etched into the glass.
