Global watch revives retro sci-fi

Bryce says: I’m a fan a geek vintage: pager, old computers, science fiction movie from the seventies/eighties, etc.

Since a long time, I dream about a watch with a vintage leather strap that is able to display time like a fictional computer in a (old) science fiction movie. I want a watch with a clean and simple design and a leather strap a little bit “handmade”.

Stargazer watch uses constellations to tell the time.

Looking up into the heavens and imagining what lies in the murky darkness has been a source of mystery and wonder, and I thought it would be interesting to take the concept of stargazing and put it into a watch design. vtol: Sci-fi powered LED watch

Peter says: As blog regulars know I have a thing for industrial and mechanical designs. Im also a bit of a film buff and gamer and like futuristic cars and planes that often feature.

This design I guess is inspired by futuristic planes from film and games and has a little DNA from earlier designs like “hunter killer” and “drone”.  This design is called “vtol” (vertical take off and landing) and features two jet engine like displays.

Nippon smart watch plays music on the go.

Anders says: I wanted to try designing something a little more avant-garde and iconic than the smartwatches I’ve seen before. Specifically I aimed to find an interesting way to mix the time display and the Bluetooth indicators. In order to maximize the clarity of the design I’ve tried to keep everything as clean, uncluttered and legible as possible. What I’ve come up with is this; Nippon.
