3 x 3 Digital Time LED Watch

Design submitted by Heather from the USA.

Heather says: I was sketching square digits, and when I came up with these 3×3 digits, I realized that it would be possible to use the Kisai logo as an animated LED display, showing one digit at a time.

I chose to place the square logo on a rounded square brushed metal pocket watch, because it doesn’t have any straps to interfere with the geometry.  Also, someone who is willing to reach to their pocket to check the time is also probably willing to wait the few seconds it takes to animate the time with LEDs. The animated sample image shows the time 08:53.

Any fan of Tokyoflash who likes to use a pocket watch will appreciate this design.

Hehe cutle little thingy ^^ The numbers rock! It would be a nice keyring pendant I think, every KISAI employee should own. I would get it as such a pendant (smaller than a pocket watch) when it also comes with flishy flashy animations :) Good luck Heather!

hey, thanks, sam! i had other ideas for these digits, too – i’m still working on them…but i just thought the kisai logo would be a neat application.. looks like a bunch of people might not agree. :(
thanks for your support, and your keyring pendant suggestion! smaller sounds like a good idea, and everyone likes animated lights!

Very simple but very effective. It seems so obvious after seeing that you wonder why its not been done already.
I think the outer shape needs a little tweaking to make it look less like a micro suitcase but that is my only critisim. 5/Y Best of luck! :D

hey there, pete! thanks for your support, and for taking the time to leave a comment. :)
i think the reason it looks like a micro suitcase it more about my graphics skills (or lack thereof), and less about the design i intended to present. ;) thanks for the constructive criticism!

You graphics do a great job of getting the idea across perfectly. Just me being picky. I think just integrating the loop for the cord/chain into the body more so its less like a handle would make the difference, but again this is a subjective thing. Im sure TF would have their own take on it anyway should they choose to take the idea further. Best of luck! :D

I like that it’s integrating the kisaï logo. I love the digits. It’s looking like a keychain watch. Because I don’t like 4 phases watches, I wouldn’t buy. ( unless there would be 4 small lights to tell which phase is on )
