Particle LED Watch Design – Accelerate Time

(English) Design submitted by Cory from the USA.

Cory says: “The patterns from particle accelerators formed very interesting and unique designs. Coupled with the techy looking equipment from CERN and Large Hadron Collider, I thought to create a watch design that made use of both.

Particle is an easily readable timepiece. Hours are affixed on the white outer spiral of LEDs 1-12 in the same position as a clock face. Minutes in groups of 5 are on the inner, with single minutes in the center. There is a notch on 3,6,9 and 12 for hours, 15,30, and 45 for minutes to aid in quicker recognition.

The particle watch could be worn by anyone who has an interest in science and technology, and those who like spiral designs and futuristic watch designs. The spiral nature of the LEDs and the color combination of sky blue and bright white make for a striking contrast that is sure to please.”

Nice display, dynamic and simple to read. I like the colour of the display.

Mhh yes white-blue looks good. The twirl gives that analog display a…certain twist :D The animation is cool. The final pattern is stylish. The shape of the case and the connection to the straps is solved in a good manner. Good work Cory!

Good-looking watch! I like the simplicity of the design. The overall shape is fairly traditional, but it works with the display, which is the main feature anyway. Nice work!

Great design! I like the swirls of the blue and white lights, very aesthetically pleasing. Great work Cory!

This is an excellent display! I would buy 4, one for each arm and leg! :-)

Thanks for the positive comments all! yeah, on a side note, wordpress seems to be acting funny. Won’t let me change my Avatar… it just keeps asking for my password over and over, and never goes to the next screen… w/e

Hope you enjoy the design! ;p

About the profile thingy: Tokyoflash is working on that issue. I asked about it some days ago. But it’s not sure when this will be solved. Lalala

At the top of the profile page it says WordPress 3.1 is available, notify blablabla site admin. I think they may have stopped supporting the old version X.x

I just wants to change my avatar! bleh

Good idea, I really like the animation. Blue and white looks cool indeed:)

Thats it, I like the contrast of the display, it looks somehow different side of art. The reading is not really hard though, and its easy on my eyes. I like the vortex shape. But technically, Ive asked u before on the sneak peak, what is the use of the crown if this is an lcd watch hmmm?

    • avatar Cory より:

I’m glad you asked that. My only complaint with my kisai RPM was that when setting it you have to repeatedly hit the A button, and if you overshoot the hour (or worse, minute) you’re after, you have to go all the way back around again.

The dial eliminates this problem, so you can go forward or back with one click of the dial for hours or minutes.

      • avatar Firdaus より:

Oh that is brilliant! I never thought that the crown be used as dial to set time on digital watch.

And now for the steady drop in score…. lol

Oh well, not much you can do about that.

I did render a 360 degree turnaround of it though.

    Particle 360 degrees

It’s an mov file so you’ll probably need QuickTime installed for it to show, Firdaus.

While the watchband is cool and the time-telling style is interesting, the time is hard for me to read and would not be practical to study the watch for half a minute trying to tell what time it was while in heavy traffic, etc… Another thing, wouldn’t the screen be easier to damage than classical watches by design?
Would not buy for any price.
