Get Your Favorite Watch Design On and Get Downtown

Design submitted by Jeanne from the USA

Jeanne describes “Downtown” as: “A battery-powered atomic watch with a bright LED screen to display the time, the date in addition to a compass. The main time screen is based on a downtown night with three tall buildings, a traffic light, and even a taxi cab, and optional cloud to display the time. The date screen shows you the dates of yesterday, today, and tomorrow in traffic light colors and in your choice of language. The same colors are also used in the compass screen, so you will always know where you are going and when you need to be there! The design is cryptic yet simple for anyone to enjoy! The watch band is rubber and comes in four different colors: black, grey, dark green, and navy blue.”

We really enjoyed reading about this concept from Jeanne, it reminds us of a classic 80′s platform computer game with blocky buildings and images. This detailed display may work well with LEDs behind a detailed silk screen. The time is presented through the three buildings: hours on the left, groups of 10 minutes in the center and single minutes 1-9 on the right.

There’s also a fun LED traffic light indicator for AM/PM and a taxi that shoots across on the hour as well as a seconds indicator in the cloud. This is a really fun concept with a lot of detail and character. What are your thoughts on this design?

Funny. Could be fun. needs a bit more refinement, but the idea behind it could work well. Reminds me of Radio Active watch.

I do like the thought that’s gone into this and I like the city theme that’s also a bit 80′s computer game but I don’t really think it’s something I would wear. It doesn’t really say “cool”.

Hola, I am Jeanne, the designer of “Downtown”! Thank you for the kind comments! =:) Unfortunately, all I had was the basic Paint program to design this. I am hoping that if Tokyoflash does go forth with the “Downtown” design, that they might be able to enhance the graphics, somewhat. However, I do find it neat that it comes out to look like a classic videogame! Those days were fun! This could work out perfectly for anyone wanting to rock the old-school look! =;D Many good energies and blessings to you all!! =:)
