Across Time LED Watch Design

Design submitted by Logan from the USA.

Like Logan’s design, “Arctime”, this watch design is a rearrangement of a traditional watch display brought forward into something futuristic.

We were lost at first on how to read the time but Logan explains it as “Two lines across the watch face tell the time. Imagine the hands of a traditional watch, anchored not at the center of the dial, but at two points on the perimeter. Those hands become LED lines to mark the hours (blue) and 5-minute groups (red). The minute line flashes 1-4 times to indicate times not ending in 0 or 5”. Sounds way too complicated but give it a moment and you’ll see how straightforward it is.

Logan sees this design worn by people whose vision of the future is an 80’s arcade game and yes, it reminds us of those old simple games. It would also be nice to see the LED lines flash like laser rays from their starting points.

Another simple but well thought out design from Logan.

  1. I like Logans initiative & amount of unusual concepts. Some of them are fantastic, other impossible to read, but in general he is showing he has got brain full of ideas, and i hope he will surprise us. However it is shame that i cannot see his own case & strap design, I do not really like this copy & paste them. But it doeas not matter. All it counts is good idea.

    • Arrimer, I wish I could show you my own case & strap designs, but I am not skilled in 3D illustration, and it would take me a very long time to produce something. At least Tokyoflash’s renderings make my designs a little less abstract and more concrete — I am grateful for that.

  2. 細い線がレーザービームみたいでめちゃくちゃクールですね。時間の読み方も簡単そうでいいです。

  3. We love this concept very much. We would love to hear from everyone if they would like this in LCD and always on, or LED, where it would be bright lights but need to push the button to tell the time. Also how about the case? Square or Round?

  4. Awesome! I like it very much. (LCD Always ON, and Round case, as it is in the current rendering, I wouldn’t change a thing 🙂 )

  5. I feel that the watch strap and face should be redesigned to fit the watch’s time telling uniqueness. I like the time telling of this watch. 🙂

  7. This one would look really good if it had a line-set for seconds. Something to consider. Regarding TF’s questions, lights always on would be cool, but I don’t get why LEDs couldn’t stay on all the time.

  8. Argh I have such an idea in my sketch book. Well… I…like…it, tehehe. It’s simple and looks cool. Don’t make an 80s case for this watch. Produce-worthy watch, there’s no doubt!

  9. I really like this design…simple yet complex if other people look at it.
But im still looking for a radar type of watch….or something that moves.
