Orbital Decay watch uses single 'hand' to show hours & minutes

Peter says: I was trying to think of a very simple and intuitive way of showing the time with essential a digital “one handed analogue” type of time telling format. The easiest way it seemed to do this is to have a hand moving in two directions, rotationally for one part of the time telling and towards and away from the pivot for the other. I soon realised after looking at one of my older designs “Tri-Ripple” that the most intuitive way of doing this is an expanding orbit around the pivot point. Like a satellite slowly moving slowly away from the object its orbiting.

Henry says: I wanted something unique than a traditional round or square watch. Watching some sci-fi movies I liked the idea of a stretch/oblong face. Afterwards I tried to make it simple to read and design while having a futuristic look and have the face able to flip for right wrist wearing.

Eivind says: I got my inspiration from classic science fiction, like 2001: A Space Odyssey and games like Mass effect and Deus EX. I liked the minimalistic design of the equipment and different tools. The style is simple, but it stands out. I also got inspiration from the popular products on the market today, like an iPhone or a pair of beats by Dr.Dre headphones.

Colby says: The idea for the ‘Abandon’ came from a long time obsession with anything post-apocalyptic. Recently there’s been an abundance of movies, series and games which embrace nuclear fallout, zombie or robotic-alien themes. When challenged with the task of designing a watch, this was a strong influence.

Peter says: This is “QuadOrbium” The watch is loosely inspired by the humble bicycle combination lock.
The gyneric format of the inspiration tends to consist of four discs with numbers printed on them that your scroll untill the correct combination of numbers are displayed and the lock can be disengaged.

Sam says: The BLACK WIDOW is inspired by the red hourglass marking of a spider with the same name. This marking and the combination of red and glossy black led to this watch concept.
