Peter & Sam say: The initial idea for this LED watch came from the so called Penrose Stairs. These imaginary stairs let you walk up eternally by stepping on the same steps again and again each cycle. From a certain perspective, real life models can look like the often seen images. From another perspective you can see, it wouldn’t work. Wooden watch projects time though the grain.

Wood-Watch

I found a wall clock that looks like solid block of wood, but is actually a thin wood veneer over LEDs. As soon as i saw it I knew that I wanted it on my wrist.
The design is simple. A thin wood veneer covers LEDs, when you press the button the LEDs light up and the time shines through the wood. The time itself is as clear as possible, it’s just like a normal digital watch.

Aqua watch causes ripples in time.

Cory says: While viewing a droplet of water on high speed camera, I noticed two things. Each time the droplet enters the water, a smaller, lighter droplet bounces back to the surface, this happens many times over until the droplet is microscopic in size. Water droplets are also not tear drop shaped, but perfectly spherical. I wanted to make a timepiece that captured this.

Trio watch design puts time-telling into gear.

Anders says: I was trying to find something new, thinking about ratios of rotation for each hand. An image of three sprockets came to mind, each with a ratio of 60:61 relative to the one before.
