# Graphikal watch graphs out the time.

Design submitted by Justin from the UK.

Justin says: I was browsing through a friends mathematics coursework and saw graphs, bar graphs, charts and numbers etc and I noticed how easy it would be to assign the basics of time telling to one of these simple looking forms.

# Eclipse e-paper watch silhouettes the time

Design submitted by Patrick from France.

Patrick says: I tried to draw a different watch that is like no other, at least I hope? The dial of the watch “Eclipse-Watch” is the sun and the moon is black pellet.

The “Eclipse-Watch” is a watch e-paper.

# Coordination watch plots your position in time.

Design submitted by Tom from Norway.

Tom says: I am currently at the second year of a Bachelordegree in Mediadesign. This idea came to me during a schoolproject in a class named “Informationdesign”, where we had to choose amongst different kind of topics in a mandatory exercise (we had to pass in order to get to take the exams). I chose one where we was supposed to make a new watchdial to tell time. I passed, but since the design had no other purpose that to show my teacher I thought it would be great to enter this contest with it.

# Multiplexer LCD watch with time nodes

Design submitted by Eric from the USA.

Eric says: The design resembles graph theory in computer science.  Depending on the time, the watch will display a path that only goes through the numbers that should be added.

# Grapha watch plots a dot in time.

Design submitted by Sriram from India.

Sriram says: I was looking into graphs and the sudden idea emerged. The top panel of the dial is glass and the body color is pure black.

# Orbits e-paper watch graphs time in 3 dimensions.

Design submitted by Ignacio from Spain.

Ignacio says: I love drawing. One day, making circles with compass, I decided to design a watch where joining 3 points (time) drew a circle. And so did this design.

I considered doing another 2 designs, which would be a square and a triangle, with the same functioning.

# CK12 'cold-war' LCD watch

Design submitted by Anders from Sweden.

I was reading about the Swedish cold war fighter-bomber JA37 Viggen, in partiular its computer system; the Centralkalkylator 37 (or CK37). It used ferrite core memory, the principle of which I found very cool. I’ve wanted to incorporate it into a watch concept for a while, and here it is.

# ‘Dendrogram’ LCD watch, a geeks graph of time.

Design submitted by Cory from the USA.

Cory says: Dendrograms are in the words of a friend of mine ‘possibly the coolest graphical means of illustrating data ever.’ Seeing circular dendrograms out of a linux based computation got me to thinking of how I could fashion a timepiece out of the graphing method.  Continue reading
