(English) Design submitted by Sam from Germany.
Sam says: The inspiration for this watch comes from the multiverse hypothesis. It says, that there are parallel universes that represent alternative timelines. So everytime a decision has to be made, there are many options, many possibilities of how your path continues. One decision can lead to many ways as well as many ways can conclude into one decision. This relationship can be shown with parallel graphs that sometimes have connections. Read the rest of this entry »

(English) Design submitted by Dietrich from Australia.
“Cyclops” is a revamp of a previous design submission – the new design uses a square interface instead of a round one. Dietrich says: The original idea came to me when I was looking at designs on the Tokyoflash website and thinking that many of them are based on “codes” of some sort. Then I hit upon the idea of colour codes.

Peter says: I wanted to design an elegant analogue watch using ribbons as a theme. The hands are in the shape of discs which have a ripple in them for highlighting the time and the strap is made of one continuous strip of material.

(English) Design submitted by Lloyd from Australia.
“Spotcheck” is a fun and perplexing LCD watch design that displays the time and date via a bewildering and seemingly chaotic array of question marks.
Don’t worry though. Reading the time or date is easy. Just concentrate on the spots in the display and 4 digits magically appear. There’s also a “quick reveal” option so that you can just display the spots. Read the rest of this entry »

Design submitted by Peter from the UK.

Design submitted by Sascha from Germany.
Sascha says: “The idea for this watch design arose from my intention to buy a new futuristic watch. I started thinking about the attributes that I personally set value on, and after some thoughts I began working a timepiece I would love to wear myself, whereat I focused on light and not being minimalistic. Design submitted by Lloyd from Australia.
Lloyd says: “This concept watch design is called “Checkpoint”. I thought it would be fun to create a modern-looking watch with circular LED lights that resembles a conventional analog watch. It’s called “Checkpoint” because you have to check the points (spots) to find out the time and date.

Sam says: “The inspiration for Raster is the checkerboard. There are many ways to handle this inspiration. I chose a subtle way with classical 7-segement digits to tell the time.

(English) Design submitted by Peter from the UK.
Peter says: “This is RECG (Rotational Electrocardiogram). The inspiration for this design is a heart rate monitor or ecg. I have seen other concepts before using similar inspiration but all seemed to have a very abstract time telling method. I wanted to use an easy recognisable time telling method using off the shelf technologies. Read the rest of this entry »

(English) Design submitted by Andy from the Ukraine.
I decided to realise a domino-watch using boxes and points. Three boxes at the top of the watch first means the first digit of the hour and six boxes at the bottom of the display means first digit of the minutes. The Domino dots at the top of the display indicates the second digit of the hour and domino dots at the bottom of the display indicates the second digit of the minutes. (see examples on how to tell the time in scheme picture). Read the rest of this entry »
