Stylistically it is influenced by the Mongolian tradition of reading and writing vertical text, a practice now common in other parts of Asia, including Japan. The second idea is based on the simple desire to protect the screen from scratches, making the piece more durable.

Logan says: “You are sitting outside under the night sky with your sweetie. She points to the stars above and asks, “Do you know what constellation that is?” You do. Press the button on your Tokyoflash Stargazer and show her Orion in glowing LEDs behind the smoked black lens. Turn the knob and scroll through all the constellations visible that night, searching together for each one in the sky.

Sam says: “My idea comes from the code displays from the inspiring movie The Matrix. I really like these “raining” numbers and tried to make something similar for a wrist watch. I am not sure about the feasability. I can imagine an LED layer on top of a light-sheet. That light-sheet would have a highly reflective surface to provide a good readability during day time.
