Peter says: I was thinking about a design based on a round dial for hours in an analogue format and two separate displays for mins. I quickly realised that this layout reminded me of certain iconic sci-fi imagery. Excelsior LCD was born.

Peter says: I have submitted a few analogue designs in the past and most were perhaps a little too imaginative. They tended to be technically un-feasible and required expensive bespoke mechanisms to allow them to work. For this concept I decided to go back to basics and use a traditional disc style analogue time telling using similar construction to “Uzumaki”

Sam says: This watch is inspired by the Borg stasis alkoven displays used in Star Trek. The were so called plasma discs used as sophisticated stand-by lights for sleeping Borg – cybernetic aliens.
