The inspiration for this watch design came from early photofits which were made up from three to four sections of faces. These sections were interchangeable so that a likeness could be made by combining the sections.

Peter says: “I had two watch ideas in my head: the first was a four dialed digital (analogue style) watch, two dials for hours and two for minutes. The second was for a watch in the style of the flying hunter killers from the Terminator films. I decided to combine the two ideas into this design”. Continue reading

Heather says: “I was trying to find a way to make new, interesting looking digits, and I came up with the idea of starting with a rectangle, and drawing in some line segments and dots to give the idea of the digits 0-9. I arranged the digits into 4 quadrants, with line segments connecting them, and noticed that making them not go all the way to the edge of the display plays tricks on the eye. Looking at the watch at first, it appears to be some line segments and dots, while in fact, if you read the background instead, it is quite easy to read the time digitally”. Continue reading

Anders says: “This concept was born when I toyed with the classic digital watch display, trying to make something new. I landed on overlapping the numbers, making them partially obscure from each other. This makes time-telling less obvious and the zig-zagging links add interest. Introducing a fun concept watch design with an original display that should appeal to anyone with an inquisitive mind. The square-shaped colored LCD screen is made up of a a number of mysterious markings. Four squares move around the screen and appear around the outside of the markings to reveal complete digital numbers which represent the time. It’s easy once you get it! Continue reading
