Firdaus & Heather say: The display for this LCD watch concept, Codex Cube, was inspired by the Kisai 3D Unlimited display. By using triangular digits (originally developed for our previous Codex submission) instead of rectangular ones, we can display two digits on each “face”, allowing room for hours, minutes, and alas, the ever-changing seconds.

Sam says: Analog watches might be traditional, but they can look so cool. I liked what I did with an earlier design called Cypher. I continued playing around with circle based shapes for an analog watch. The result is Cypher’s Little Brother. Continue reading

Peter says: This is an LCD version of Tricircle. I wanted to improve the feasibilty of manufacture of this design by using technology familiar to Tokyoflash. This version uses a Mirror LCD like 3D Unlimited in conjuction with a Lens (3D) in the shape of the rings used in the original analogue version. This give the display a 3D look which looks very similar to the original anaolgue version. Continue reading

Felix says: I’ve always wanted to make a jewel-like clock, which is minimalist and timeless.
The design elements should be square and circular. No decoration except for the strap. Timeless.

Laszlo says: After a short animation the time indicates with traditional LED segments. There are two different mode available: mirrored or easy.
The upper digits shows the hours (or months), and the lower digits stands for the minutes (or days).

Lloyd says: This concept watch design is called “Timebender” because its ‘hands’ sometimes look bent and droopy. They are also very reminiscent of the melting clocks in Salvador Dali’s painting “The Persistence of Memory” and give the design a surrealistic feel. Continue reading

Heather says: I wanted to develop some minimalistic digits that would appear cryptic, yet once learned are quite easy to recognise. I accomplished this by arranging various sizes of rectangular tiles to give the feel of classic digits. I call this display “MOSAIC”. Continue reading

Peter & Sam say: The idea for this concept originates from the Ouija board and the practice of a message being created, influenced by an invisible force.
The watch tells the time using a similar principle. The face has a series of numbers and symbols which are highlighted by a lens which moves around the face by an invisible force, constructing a ‘sequence’ of numbers which, when assembled in ones mind, communicates the time. Continue reading
