A simple watch design that uses an LCD screen backlit with colored LEDs to display the time. The digits of time are camouflaged within the lines of the display. One benefit of this LCD watch design is that the display is always on and can always be read without touching the button. Continue reading

Jordan says: “I was doodling on the back of a French test and I came up with this watch design.
The lines of light running horizontally represent hours. When the light is green, it counts as an hour. The vertical slashed line of light running through the center of the watch represents minutes. The hour lights represent 10 minute milestones. Continue reading

“My theme for this watch was “Simple Complexity.” I liked the idea of a very simple, rectangular shaped body. I wanted the watch to have a smooth, featureless face when off. Cory says: “Traditional LED number designs on digital alarm clocks and car dashboard readouts are very bland. I wanted to make a wrist watch display that would show 1-9 and 0 in a more interesting font design.

I am inspired by the watches at Tokyoflash. After seeing a plasma globe I was incredibly curious to know how it works and wanted to see it in more uses than a just an object for decoration. Devindh says: “When I was a child I owned an LCD digital watch that had its screen accidentally cracked. I remember being saddened to see the entire face blacked out by Liquid Crystal. This design takes that incident and uses it as the inspiration for a Hybrid Analog/LCD wrist watch.

Basically, the features are identical as the Escape C watch (skype, MP3 and Bluetooth) with the possibility to use bluetooth headphones and the USB key to store music or any computer data.
