Gabriel says: I was thinking for a while about a concept watch which would let me be connected to my smartphone with a Tokyoflash sci-fi touch and I came with this concept simply called “Smart connection”.

Peter says: This is “HUD” which stands for “Heads up Display”.
Watches utilising a transparent display are a popular concept and always have a futuristic look. The trouble with most of these concepts is that they dont fully utilise the transparency of the display, unless you like to admire your wrist through the display.

Sam says: In the design process for my FOCUS watch I sketched for a concept called ALIEN TATTOO that uses the same way of stacking numbers. Despite the issues, that a transparent screen might bring, I liked the idea of overlapping the wrist with a cool ornamental display. This is how AEON came to being.

Peter says: This is “Digit Stacked MKIII” cryptic LED watch.
The original idea consisted of digits made up of LEDs, the digits were arranged one inside the other in a russian doll style. This allowed the quite regular digits to become cryptic, artistic and abstract.

Peter says: This is “Trylon” a 12-5-9 format LED watch.
I had an idea to design a watch based on the image of the “flux capacitor” from the time traveling Delorean from the “back to the future” movies. In the development stage I had more of a Cylon image in my head and ended up with something between a Cylon and the robot spaceships from the first star-wars films which had a “Y” shape face. The name “Trylon” came from the combination of the “Y” shape face and Cylon like lights.

Heather & Sam say: AURA is a unisex sci-fi fashion LED watch for people who want to look well equipped for the future. The slim case is perforated by four vertically aligned holes, that instantly catch eyes.
Design submitted by Sam of Borg.
Sam says: This watch is inspired by the Borg stasis alkoven displays used in Star Trek. The were so called plasma discs used as sophisticated stand-by lights for sleeping Borg – cybernetic aliens.

I was inspired by an older blog entry posted by Tokyoflash that used two colors of LEDs to count the time: http://www.tokyoflash.com/blog/2010/02/time-to-streamline/ The Retro-bot LED watch concept is meant to be similar to the classic Tokyoflash watches, but instead of using counting to tell the time, the display shows a distorted version of the digital time.

“Time Shift” is an exciting LED concept watch that displays the time and date by ‘beaming’ digits onto the display. It was inspired by the futuristic teleportation devices in sci-fi programmes and films.
Design submitted by Sam from Germany.
This watch concept is inspired the natural play of light and shadow on the surface of Mercury, the Moon and similar celestial bodies. The Saturn moon Mimas and the Deathstar from Star Wars were influencing the display design. Continue reading
