A second chance for Trylon [Design update]

Peter says: This is “Trylon Lite” an simplified version of the original Trylon concept.

In the prospect that Trylon should get a second chance at development I have had a few thoughts regarding simplification. In order to reduce watch case/modual size I have taken the lid hinge and latch outside of the case cavity. I have done a few variations which have their own merits.

Coordination watch plots your position in time.

Tom says: I am currently at the second year of a Bachelordegree in Mediadesign. This idea came to me during a schoolproject in a class named “Informationdesign”, where we had to choose amongst different kind of topics in a mandatory exercise (we had to pass in order to get to take the exams). I chose one where we was supposed to make a new watchdial to tell time. I passed, but since the design had no other purpose that to show my teacher I thought it would be great to enter this contest with it.

Quicksilver LCD watch tells time with virtual droplets of Mercury

Sam says: I checked my thermometer recently (thanks to a summer flu) and and it’s one that works with quicksilver. It made me think about a mirror LCD display that could pretend to be made of quicksilver drops. I decided for a simple analog based digital display. The inspiration came from the observation of quicksilver forming drops before joining a bigger mass of itself.

9 Connected Dots Tell Time

Peter says: The Kisai logo consists of 9 dots connected together with a few vertical and horizontal lines. This is a good basis for a simple LED array to create a digit . I decided to use four of these arrays to create “KisaiNine4x” (Nine meaning the number of dots per array and 4 x the number of arrays) “Strewth I can see the time from here!!”                                                                                                             Continue reading
