Flower of Life watch helps you achieve enlightenment

Design submitted by Robert from Hungary.

Robert says: I wanted to create a new type screen with a really new type minute hand. The Buddhist Flower of Life gave me the basic idea. The minute hand is virtual, but its end draws six curves in every hour, and these curves together will be the Flower of Life.

The exact hours are always in the top hexagon. The hours are wandering counterclockwise. The axis of the virtual minute hand is wandering inside the central hexagon. It has six fixed positions. One position lasts for 10 minutes. The minute hand draws the Buddhist Flower of Life in 60 minutes.

This watch is not for women only, not for Buddhists only. This watch is for everyone: it gives energy continuously to the person who wears it, because it draws the Flower of Life!

This is an esoteric/spiritual watch concept with the symbol of life energy. The wondering axis of the virtual minute hand that can draw a symbol is a really new twist.

I revised my Flower of Life watch concept. I wanted to create a new type screen with a really new type minute hand. The minute hand is virtual, but its end draws six curves in every hour, and these curves together will be the Flower of Life.

  1. Hi Robert,
I like the concept/idea of this one. It’s actually quite spooky because I have a design in my sketchbook that looks just like this. The time telling is very different but the shape of the flower element is very similar. I didn’t know about the budist flower tho, mine just evolved that way. Saves me modelling it up anyway. I would have liked to have seen the segmentation of the arcs that make up the flower, I think it would make understanding the time telling easier. Otherwise you rely on the animation to explain the minutes. Details aside it’s a nice concept with a fresh feel so 5/Y best of luck! 😀

  2. Cheers TF for adding the design to the blog! 🙂

    Hi Peter!

I sent in this concept 42 days ago. I revised it, and I sent in it again 38 days ago. It is a kind of mix of the two submissions…

9 days ago I totally revised the watch face and also the concept, and I sent in it again. It is the Hanabira watch. Hanabira is the best version of this concept.

This month I sent in 12 other concepts: 2 analogue watches (Eccentricity, Synchronous24), 3 versions of an LCD watch with 3 new types of cryptic digits (Digits009, Digits09, Dots), and 7 versions of my Trinary/Ternary Equilibrium watch (Basic, Hexagon, 3.14, 3Minimal, Mathreex, Dinamic and Halloween).

      • You know, I bought my first binary LED watches only 5 months ago. Previously I didn’t know these kind of watches at all! (So I’m really new in this watch business. 🙂 But this watch opened my mind, because I have a trinary watch concept for about 30 years. And in August I found TF. The other concepts are just „side effects” of thinking about watches. 🙂

  3. Hmmm I think there’s something interesting going on here — I’m talking about the display, I already liked it and I think the atomic look combined in hexagon face is cool.

About the Buddhist Flower, I’m too not quite sure about it but I know traditional Japanese believe in goodluck charm, so I guess this watch follows such concept?

I think this design is OK but the time telling could be made easier. Good luck and keep it up!

  4. I like that the hour is some kind of turning disk. The overall look of the minute is nice, when complete, but the single minutes are too hard to figure out.
