Mainstream e-paper watch, bracelet style for fashionable people.

Design submitted by Firdaus from Malaysia.

Firdaus says: I wanted to make a Tokyoflash watch that is simple, lightweight and mainstream but still unique and Tokyoflashy.

The watch features mono colour E-paper display with combination of fibre/plastic and aluminium body and strap, in curvy, bracelet style design. The display is simply mainstream digital number read upside down [HHMMSS].

As the name implies, this watch design is mainstreamly tokyoflashy, so it would be appealing to both Tokyoflash and mainstream fashion community.

  1. love it. 5* my only concern is the refresh rate on e-paper may not handle seconds that well (unless this is new technology i’m not aware of). but if it can be done, this is pretty awesome, and changing seconds would help with learning the numbers for those who may find it difficult.

    • Hi Heather, thank you comment. AFAIK current e-ink technology can handle the refresh rate. Backlight can be incorporated too. I’ve seen such tech in a watch recently.

  2. Hey, Firdaus! I really like this design, it kinda reminds me of graphics on the Atari 2600, specifically mazes and keys from Adventure. I think a suitable title would have ‘key’ in it, such as Keycode or Hotkey.

  3. I really like the look and design of it, but I’m still a little confused about how the time is read. On all of the given examples, it seems like there are too many numbers.

    • Hello Cole, you see above, the digits; for example on the green version, read upside down HHMMSS ~ 06:11:38. Actually as simple as ordinary numbers, but maybe more comprehensive how to would be helpful for people who see it more cryptic instead of mainstream. But the reality is its relatively easy to read. So I guess the trick somehow works as tokyoflashly mainstream hehe. Thank you.

  4. I like the overall look. I like that some digits are on the left side of the line, some are directly on it & some are on the right side. I would buy.
