Brakket LED watch with glowing cryptic numbers

Design submitted by Sam from Germany.

Sam Says: The initial idea was to use the classic 7-segment digits and take their center segments away. To emphasize the missing of the center segments and to give the numbers an alien look, they have been given a big gap in the middle and a more dynamic look. The result are four pairs of brackets.

I created a massive steel case that responds to the angled shapes of the numbers. When the watch is off, you can hardly believe it has been made to tell the time. Pressing a button illuminates the cryptic numbers, making the watch look even more strange to the untrained eye.

Brakket is a watch for those who like it edgy, sharp and massive. The vertical display and the unusual style of the numbers are quite an eye-catcher.

  1. Initially I thought this was a bluetooth necklace.

I like this design a lot and I hope TF can seriously consider making some decent LED watches soon. I so miss those old LED watch designs that TF used to have.

    5/5

    • Necklace? Not too bad idea actually. I would prefer a wrist tool though 😉 Oh I know exactly what you mean about Toky’s LED watches. Although I like the always on LCD ones, I really like to activate some flashiness too. Thanks Jarrod!

  2. Looks really cool Sam. 😉 You and Pete always make great looking watches. Bit of a pity about the 8 again, but it’s not much of a problem. 5Y Good luck with it.

    • Thank you Lloyd!! I can return a compliment to you about the creativity of your concepts!

Hehe, yeah the 8 is tricky because it really really needs the center segment. Differently from the Chromefold concept it’s ok here to have a totally alien number among the other alien looking (but easier to recognize) ones I think.

  3. Nice watch concept, Sam! I really enjoy how this is easy to read if you know how to, but it will leave others confused.

  5. Very clever idea. I love the cryptic look and time-telling of the watch. I would have never know how to read it without the digit chart! This is a watch I can definitely see being turned into reality. 5/Y

  8. This has got to be the most imaginative watch I’ve ever seen. I truly want to own one of these. I’m afraid I don’t understand, though. Are these not yet available to purchase? Is this just a concept art drawing? Will these be made at some later date? Is there a website I need to monitor if I really want to purchase one? I would be greatly disappointed to miss this one!

    • Thanks alot for your comment! This watch is not available for purchase – it’s mere art right now. If the chances are good (good comments, good rating, good feasability, etc.) it can become real. You can click “WATCHES” up there to see all available watches from Tokyoflash. Tokyoflash is on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube and some other platforms too where they tell about new watches. That’s probably the best sources. And if one of my watches gets made by them, I tell it on my page:

So I cross my fingers and hope you too 🙂

  10. I love this one. In my collection, I have a somewhat similar watch. ( Samouraï led watch : it’s a 2×2 grid normal digits ) This one is more futuristic. I would buy one with blue digits.

But this type of watch have a minor problem, when used outside & if you wear sunglass : You can’t see the lights that are on !

Date & 24 hour mode can be added.

    • I agree, date and 24h for me too 🙂 Any watch has an issue, LED and LCD. Just keep those moments secret when showing off the watch 😉 You have a good imagination when you see similarity between the Brakket and the Samurai hehehe. Such can be good. Makk, I thank you for your comment!
