Colby says: The idea for the ‘Abandon’ came from a long time obsession with anything post-apocalyptic. Recently there’s been an abundance of movies, series and games which embrace nuclear fallout, zombie or robotic-alien themes. When challenged with the task of designing a watch, this was a strong influence.

The design resembles that of a stealth fighter jet and the strap has a robotic-spinal flare. Minutes/day are displayed by digits, and hours/month by the outer ring of bars above it. There’s a solar power component, daily countdown function, and LED’s indicate low battery, provide a finder light and light source.

Despite being themed for a post-apocalyptic, militant, science fiction genre, this design should appeal to everyone with an appreciation for offbeat, unconventional design. The Abandon isn’t targeted at any specific gender either, so if you’re bold enough to wear it, you’re bound to turn heads.

Many existing designs embrace a very clean, conservative and minimalistic ideology. This watch breaks convention by introducing a style that appeals to the more daring and expressive sides of people. With Aluminium being used for the strap and face, the Abandon is light and still portrays a very solid construction.

  2. I like the look of the face and the time telling method works fine. The countdown timer is a nice addition although I have trouble getting my head around it. The solar panel is also a nice touch. Im not overly taken by the strap, I like the idea of a vertebrae inspired design but this is a little too spikey for me. If it could be made more subtle and less clothes snaggy that would be better for me. I like your out of the box thinking and support the concept! 5/Y Best of luck and welcome to the blog! 😀

  5. Love these types of designs, I would probably shorten the spiky bits on the strap a wee bit so to keep snags to a minimum but thats all. Awesome work 5/Y

  6. Thanks! Yeah, the strap is very ‘edgy’ but I’d imagine that if this watch ever went into production the manufacturing process would have it’s own influence on the shape/size, making this slightly less intimidating 😉

  8. This design is literally out of this world! The concept is brilliant and imaginative. I imagine it making an appearance in a sci-fi or superhero movie soon!

  10. this honestly blew my mind- such a unique strap that looks like it could eat your arm…. great concept and beautifully designed. i agree with Luqman- its as if the man took the words out of my own mouth.. superhero movie soon, or even a new box office hit zombie movie 🙂 its fantastic how uv designed a light and dark version of this watch! could definitely see myself not only buying this, but wearing it. i’d be sorted for doomsday if i had that- will smith will even look on in envy
