Aura LED watch sci-fi accessory with vertical holes

Design submitted by Heather (USA) & Sam (Germany)

Heather & Sam say: AURA is a unisex sci-fi fashion LED watch for people who want to look well equipped for the future. The slim case is perforated by four vertically aligned holes, that instantly catch eyes.

The idea started with a new number style. Instead of running horizontally across the number, the center segment has been broken by a hole that uses the rest of the number as a frame. The broken center segment runs down the hole towards the wearer’s wrist. These new hollow numbers light up as auras of their originals.

The four digits of the time light up by LEDs at the pressing of a button, and can be read from top to bottom. The watch looks like a stylish accessory even when the time is not shown. It has been given a slim and smooth design with subtle curves here and there. The simple style can go with different materials and LED colors, so AURA can look anything between cute and serious. Which version is your favorite?

    • Yeah such a watch rises or falls with the holes. I must say, I’m not sure how bad a visible wrist actually is. Since there is wrist left and right of it too, the object might stand out on it’s own, now necessarily focussing on the wrist. Hm, if Tokyoflash makes this watch, we would know 😉 Thank you for the comments and the vote!

  1. Love the design. Only wish the holes would be a bit more closed and the inside stripe would be a bit more visible by putting the inner edge on an angle

  2. The numbers look great and the extra dimension is very welcome. For me the case looks a little narrow but that’s nitpicking. Silver and teal for me! 5/Y best of luck guys! 😀

    • Cool I think that would be Heather’s choice too. Yeah, the width depended a bit on the number width. We hoped for a balance between number width and emty space left and right of them. Maybe this balance can be tweaked.

      Thanks alot Pete.

  3. Sam….more numbers!!! You just can’t help yourself, can you? LOL This is so cool…I think some of the colours are more suitable for ladies, which is a good thing. (Maybe Heather’s influence?)

    Cheers and good luck

    • Heather came up with the numbers and a vision of how the watch could look. Since the numbers were similar to my NEON numbers and I quickly had an idea of the final design, we cooperated. The female aspect is stronger this time. That’s something I’m mostly forgetting. I try to be neutral but often land in the guys corner hehehe. Actually if you make every watch in black/white/silver and give the LEDs each color of the rainbow, you can find more girly and more guy-y versions. Well, not every watch allows such a material and color fun, but here it would work just great I think 🙂

Thanks so much for the comment DZ!

  5. Very nice idea, Heather and Sam. At first, it was hard to tell the time, but after I looked it over a couple of times, it seemed easier to remember. I rate it a 5. Good job!

    • Thank you for taking the time Matt! It’s always a risk to not convince soon enough with a design, that sacrifices easy to style. But that’s the deal and we’re glad that people keep looking at this concept and then judge 🙂

  8. Sam – if you ever get someone to manufacture this watch, let me know. Pricepoint – I would pay up to $1000 US for this watch. You do some great work, but I say it again, this watch is absolutely fantastic!! 😀

  9. A nice undercover watch. It’s the kind of watch people tell you that you have a nice wristband, not knowing it’s a watch. I prefer the red on silver case.
