Tricircle LCD watch (update)

Peter says: This is an LCD version of Tricircle. I wanted to improve the feasibilty of manufacture of this design by using technology familiar to Tokyoflash. This version uses a Mirror LCD like 3D Unlimited in conjuction with a Lens (3D) in the shape of the rings used in the original analogue version. This give the display a 3D look which looks very similar to the original anaolgue version.

The time telling is exactly the same as the original analogue version.

Hopefully this version will still appeal to the purists who liked the analogue version as well as people who like LCD watches.

This design stands out because it is totally feasibly using existing development and manufacturing methods currently employed by Tokyoflash whilst keeping the unique look of the original version.

  2. Right on Peter!! W00t! as much as I would really rather have a true mechanical version of this watch this one still looks totally epic! I would buy one very quickly. COME ON TF GET ON IT!! lol

    • Yeah I would be over the moon if either was considered for production. The original had a mechanical charm this one this one feels more modern somehow and more viable from TF’s perspective. Im really glad you like both! Thanks for the great comment! 😀

    • This LCD version was originally planned as an addition to the orginal post so I didn’t do a range of colours, if I had known it would have been posted as new post I would have done a blue one. I’m sure if TF were to develop this design they would do a range of different colours. Thanks for the amazing comment! 😀

    • Yeah the majority of my more recent designs are far more realistic from a production perspective.
      I would sooner a design was not developed because no-one liked it rather than just not being feasible.

  8. Good luck with this Pete! My only prob with it is reading the time. It looks like it might be a bit tricky seeing the numbers in those D rings. I’m sure that’s an easy fix tho. 5* and Yes.

    • Yeah the windows could be easily enlarged if it was deemed an issue. Also the depth could be reduced, I kept the proportions the same as the original which needed the depth for the physical rings. Reducing the depth would make the time visible from more angles etc. Like you say thats an easy development thing. Thanks for the feedback and the vote! 😀

  17. This is a clever way to make the original concept easier to manufacture, and I applaud you for it, Pete, but I much prefer the original. I suspect that the original design would be significantly more expensive, but that this is a situation where fans would be willing to pay the extra. I like this, but I like the original much more.

    • Hey Logan, yeah I really liked the original but just got the impression the extra complication of the mechanical mechanism made it un-viable for TF. This version at least gets around that. I would be happy (very happy infact) if either were considered for development x^^x. Im glad you like both designs. Thanks a lot for the feedback and the comment! 😀

  19. here is still a fantastic show, but WHY TKF is lagging behind, it must sell a watch like this one, will done very very Beautiful and i hope soon to have the handful 🙂

  21. Is it possible to integrate the 3 colors light? So we can change it accordingly. It would make it more versatile for matching purposes. Otherwise it is a very nice design

  23. I like the 3D rings, It is very futuristic, but the detail gives it character. A silver version might be nice too.

    • Yeah if you check out the original version I did a silver coloured one. This version was intended as an update of the original post so I didnt do a selection of materials as that was already covered.     • yeah there was always a risk that in making it LCD it would lose the appeal.
      But I figured that TF could choose a design and re-interpret it as LCD or LED anyway, so why not suggest a means of doing just that which hopefully keeps some of the character of the original.

  25. I really hope this design does end up in production. The original design is the one I’d prefer (and would pay the extra for), but TF seems to shy away from any mechanical design though, which is a shame. They could stand to add some watches to their catalog that have more depth to them. Most of what they have right now just comes across a little too flat and boring to me. This design really stands out though, and hopefully one day I’ll be able to see it in person.

      I hope that one day you will be able see this or the original version in person. This version does seem a liitle more realistic for TF to produce. I would be happy to see either version realised. I know what you mean reagrding depth, I too would love to see a watch with extra mystery surrounding it.
