S-Line mystic watch predicts the time.

Design submitted by Peter from the UK and Sam from Germany.

Peter & Sam say: The idea for this concept originates from the Ouija board and the practice of a message being created, influenced by an invisible force.

The watch tells the time using a similar principle. The face has a series of numbers and symbols which are highlighted by a lens which moves around the face by an invisible force, constructing a ‘sequence’ of numbers which, when assembled in ones mind, communicates the time.

Once the time has been displayed the lens would be directed to a PM symbol if necessary, and then onwards to a yes/no symbol seemingly random. This could be a means of answering a whimsical question that cannot be decided by logical thought or just helps the wearer to decide. This could make everyday life a bit more interesting.

The force in this case comes from a series of electromagnets hidden beneath the face. The magnets move the lens around in a ‘sequence’ that could be programmed by subroutines similar to an LCD display. If one magnet switches off while the neighbouring one switches on, the lens automatically moves. This method of manipulation needs no obvious mechanical mechanism and adds to the magical eeriness of the lenses movement.

We like to address superstitious people as well as technology fans. This concept reminds us that magic is technology that cannot yet be explained. To emphasise this, the S-Line consists of themes both traditional and futuristic.

This watch concept is simple but effective. It uses a moving viewer like no other watch before. And last but not least, it can come in many very different styles.

May the forces be with you.

    • You’re welcome, its a great concept.
Solaris is my favourite, loving the ancient alien engravings on there, the gold/silver combination looks awesome.

      • I agree about the gold/silver combo on Solaris. I’d like to see more designs featuring metalwork like that. The astronomical machinery look would be a great addition to TF’s line, I think.

      • Its got a bit of a steampunkt look, this sort of look seems to be popular with a lot of people.
I must admit to being a bit partial to a bit of brass or gold now and again!
Im glad you like it Logan! Thanks for the great comment! 😀
I look forward to seeing your next design! 😀

      • Thats cool! We are describing a little time line here, starting with the big superstition, then we have astrology / astronomy (depends on how scientific you like it), then the computer and machine ages and finally the virtual existence. It’s all about this world and another one parallel to it. My favorite… right now it’s the the Solaris one too. Check Peter’s or my page to see the ufo, we have hidden in that one 😀

Hi Logan! Cool you’re still around. We hoped to reach more people with our variants. Some like it techy, some are more spiritual. Some cool metalwork is quite a diversion hm? Thanks alot for your comment!

      • Thanks, Sam and Pete. I’m still here 🙂 I was too busy for a while, but now I have a few designs in the pipeline.

  2. Love the Solaris, Sequence and Sentinal. Would definitely have to buy a bigger watch cabinet for these ones to be added to the collection.

    • Hi Timo, if a number is repeated as in your examples the lens would go to that number, pause then move away and then return and pause again before moving onto the next numbers. Its the numbers the lens pause on that are part of the time. Alternatively the lens could pause for double the time but I think this would be less clear. Im glad you like the design! 😀

    • Wise question, Timo. Yep, as Pete said, the lense would twitch above the same number, like trying to move away but not reaching another number. Lloyd’s idea is a good alternative. If magnets and light sources can go together, oh yes please. Seance should stay massive wood though, to keep the magic.

Thanks Timo and Lloyd for the input!

  3. Really like this design Pete and Sam. 5* and Yes! Will the numbers/symbols light up when the lens stops on the correct ones? Just thought you could get confused when the lens stops and changes direction. I prefer the Seance and Solaris versions, but they’re all great.

    • Hi Mushy,
Im glad you likey. I cant see why the numbers couldn’t be illuminated at the same time, from a technical perspective anyway. Solaris so far seems to be the favorit! Thanks for the comment and the vote! 😀

    • It’s cool to see how different the preferences are. *high fives with Pete*

The least what light can do here is helping to read the watch at nighttime. If it can improve general time telling, I welcome it. Especially the techy looking ones could benefit from it. Thank you Lloyd for commenting and voting!

  7. hey, sam and pete. as you know, i am a big fan of both of your work.
with this one, i love the digits for the solaris design, and the etchings.
the problem for me with this design, other than the fact that it seems like it would be quite large, is that you have to wait to get the whole time. no way for time at a glance, which of course makes sense, since this comes from the ouija premise. the idea is cool, but wouldn’t be practical for me.
the renderings are very nice! 😀

  8. This is a good concept, I especially like the Seance and Solaris versions. It would be nice to see the option of different coloured faces for Solaris especially, as lots of people who like silver coloured watches don’t like gold. Maybe a dark blue or black face with silver details would be nice? It is very classy!

    • If you get the chance Diane, check out Tokyoflash’s fb page, I spammed a blue version on there. (also my fb page PF Design and Futurewatches have the blue version there too)
I’m sure if TF chose to develop this design they would choose suitable colour combinations to suit most tastes. Im glad you like it, thanks for the classy comment! 😀

  9. Guys I love it! It’s one of those designs where you say why did I not think of that?? Which is as big a complement as i can give. Great range of concepts too! I will be buying one when it’s produced. I don’t see any reason why this couldn’t be produced. I’m only new to this site but it’s the best one I have seen so far. I can’t wait to be wearing one and saying that I voted to get this watch made! And of course as the night goes on I will be telling people I helped design it:)best of luck with this guys!

    • hahaha thanks! glad you like it, yeah it was one of those ideas that as soon as you think of it you then convince yourself it must have been done already. Luckily for us it hadn’t. Yeah its definately feasible from a technical persepctive. Also could be done in LCD if deemed too expensive.
Wanting to claim the design as your own is as a big compliment as it gets in my book, so thanks for that! lol
Thanks for the great comment and the vote! 😀

  10. Meh, not to keen on the focus on mysticism and seance and stuff. This might be cool, a lense moving around to show the time, but all the stuff about the other crap doesn’t appeal to me. Sorry.

    • No problem Ninjadude, the Ouji board was the inspiration for this concept but we have tried to show that what cannot be explianed, like the invisible forces that move the lens around could be technology. Which is why we did futuristic themed designs in the matrix and tron inspired examples.
You dont have to buy into the tradition if you like the time telling method or desgin style. Thanks for the feedback anyway! 😀

  11. @ Graham: That’s cool you found your favorites! Thanks for telling and voting!

@ Diane: Thank you so much for suggesting. Peter already said, you can check our both facebook pages. The solaris got some nice variants 🙂

@ Nigel: Wow thank you for your enthusiastic comment! Pete and I also think it can be done. Well, it seems simple, but here the testing phase is probably longer than with conventional technologies. But the result is magic, so we cross fingers.

@ ninjadude: Hey, if that’s your opinion, okidoki. Have you checked the Subroutine version? It’s the pure opposite of the Seance – cyber circuitry instead of calling ghosts. We thought, mysticism has a different quality each century and also each place on earth. These days in the high-tech world it’s aliens and VR that make us wonder and we think, we are so educated. In 100 years the 2000er people look so primitive and supersticious and they just shake their holografic heads xD

  13. I think the Subroutine is the Winner; it would be even better if it had the ancient alien signs on it from the Solaris design, in fluorescent, so absorbing the daylight at day and at night you can see time perfectly as well, I personally do not like the gold/silver combination, at first sight it might look great, because it is different and not so much seen, but I think you will get tired of this colour combination very soon, the colours of the Subroutine are simply perfect, and the like of this look will last much and much longer, the futuristic design, not only the beautifull strap but the whole, is simply perfect!
