Design submitted by Sam from Germany.
Sam says: “I combined two ideas I had into this watch. The first idea came from the backlight of a car. I had this idea about the same time when I made my go-stop watch. Here again, I am using white light and cover it with colored plastic. And this is where my second idea comes in: I wanted the plastic covers to be replaceable, so everyone can create an own color layout.Time reading works with LEDs in an analog watch layout. The outer LED-ring represents the hours, the middle ring represents five-minute-steps and the inner circle contains the remaining single minutes. The colored plastic rings are locked into each other and into the case by a simple tongue and groove mechanism. They have to be turned 90∞ to be released/locked. Inspired by the backlight of a car, each plastic element is created with an internal relief, so the light gets obscured in a cool way and can be seen from other angles than just from the front view.
I see people, who like to express themselves with colors, wearing the watch. If you like to show your country flag colors or those of your favorite soccer team, or if you like to match the colors to your shirt, this is the right watch for you. You can express your mood or just randomly pick another color each day. You’re free to run crazy or to remain sober – it’s in hour hands, or more correct, it’s on your wrist.
This watch allows people to easily change it’s appearance according to their taste. It can look serious or funny, but it is always stylish. The color change principle of this watch is effective and affordable.”
i want this watch, it´s better than many of the watches that have been selling, like the touch ones, i don’t like them pretty much

That is one striking watch. It even looks good with the LEDs off. The molding on the inside of the lenses makes it a little too busy for me though.

This is my new favorite of Sam’s designs, this is just epic! I love cars so this right up my street, had a similar idea a while back and am so glad I didnt do it cos this would have blown it right out of the water! The styling is just beutiful and the renderings are deep! Interesting that this and my edge were inspired by the same source but are so different! Also this design should appeal to trekkies and sci-fi fans cos it kinda looks a little like the dish array on the front of the enterprise. If I could give 10 stars I would! and Yes

Oh, this from a car designer – thank you Pete!!
Yeah that’s cool, cars are treasure crates of designs and inspirations! Hm, the aqua has a color scheme matching the deflector dish of the Enterprise NCC 1701-A and C. It’s cool you see things 🙂

The concept is unbelievable and the renderings are amazing as always. I love the idea of being able to change the color so easily, and especially the suggestion of doing so for sports teams etc…I know some people who would definitely do that. 😉
Unfortunately, I think this design would have the same problem for me as the new “On Air”…I love it, but it’s MASSIVE!! I could not wear something that large on my wrist comfortably….but this is great for a man who loves sports, cars, or both! It’s easy to read, and even looks cool when off! 5*

PS – I love how you made the “alien” one upside-down, so it looks like a UFO!! 😀

Yeah I often see people who wear their team’s colors – not their logos or their mascot as plush animal, just the colors on their face or as pattern in a scarf. It’s a nice way to show your fanlove.
Oh the size 🙂 I’m not good finding a size. I admit, it’s always a tad arbitrary >.< But maybe this a verrry small wrist up there, so the watch looks big, hehehe.
Hmhm, the alien comes from beyond and the aqua comes from the dark depths hoooohooooo
Thanks for the cool feedback Heather!

now this is original! i’ve never seen a watch like that. i’m a big fan customizable items! this one looks amazing! and i love cars! I could wear this watch at the next detroit auto show! please make this, please! you must admit, the time reading isn’t new, but it’s as simple as it can be for a round led display with changeable covers. I can’t look away from this beauty. hypothetical *****************************/YES

Woof, commenting spree hehehe. Thanks for your feedback and the vote Acan! Yeah I’m a fan of customizing too. That’s a contemporary element that will live on into the future. The time reading is similar to the RPM and indeed the easiest I could think of for it 🙂

I love the look of this one Sam! You could wear one on each wrist and indicate which way you’re gonna turn next. Great if you’re a rollerblader or cyclist or even just a pedestrian. 🙂 My wife reckons you should design jewellery too.
