Snake watch slithers onto your wrist.

Design submitted by Peter from the UK.

Peter says: The inspiration for this concept is based on the old mobile phone game “Snake”.The premiss for the game: you control a snake, around the screen pixel blocks appear which you try to intercept. As your snake eats the blocks the snake gets longer and longer.
The game is over when you run into your own tail or the edges of the screen.

I decided you use this snake to describe the time. When the time is not being displayed the snake will move about the screen like a constant always on screen saver.

When the screen is touched the snake creates a negative of the current time using one continuos line (in basic digits mode)

In dot digit mode the centres of numbers 0,6,8 and 9 is made up of a pixel block like the ones in the original game , the snake creates the time around these blocks as per the basic mode. After several seconds the snake returns to continuos screen saver mode.

This design should appeal to people who like retro style products and games. The case is simple, uncluttered and geometric.

Being a rectangular display would allow this deign to be built into existing watch housings.

The time display method is simple, entertaining and novel. The method is open to hundreds of different patterns of time display and animations. It could be possible to program the watch to display custom messages and styles.

  1. Awesome and creative concept that HAS to be made! I just love the idea of having a single continuous line to tell the time – wonderful! It can be made with a simple LCD matrix. “Always on” and an animation from time to time are definitely possible and would look wowowow. Touch screen is a good modern element. Great idea, 5*/YES and good luck!!!

  2. Ok sorry for double post. Can someone explain me how this strap works? I never have experience with the strap of this kind, but seen many times on this blog, wonder how it works and would like to implement onto my future design if possible.

I don’t have any more comment on this watch design since its already good and hope the masses can support this design.

    Thanks.

    • The strap is just a flexible rubber material with a simplified butterfly clasp (minus the link) .
I usually work on the theory that TF will determine these finer details.
I prefer your straps, they are more detailed and realistic.

      Thanks for the comment! 🙂

Yeah I hope TF consider it too. This is one of my more doable concepts I think and could be worked into an existing watch housing making it more finacially viable.
Thanks for the comment and the vote! 🙂

    • I cant see any reason the game couldn’t be played, would require four points in the touch screen like the rogue touch, but thats proven tech now. Thanks for the feedback Dek! 🙂

  6. Love this! I’m feeling somewhat nostalgic – this takes me back to my school days and my nokia 5210 🙂 Great theme delivered to perfection in each detail – I particularly like the slightly curved screen and the angular font derived from the snake. Any chance of doing an animation?

  7. I like the mix between the rubber strap and the metallic case passing through.
The display is cool, I can already imagine the snake moving on the screen ! Portrait display & black on gray for me, cause it reminds me of the original snake 🙂
