Design Submitted by Peter from the UK.
Peter says :Β I wanted to come up with a time telling method that involves combining two symbols or shapes to create digital numbers. The result is a simple rotating disc that when combined with a viewing window shows a single digit.
When the watch is activated the disc rotates combining the various symbols with the viewer to create a number, the watch repeats this process four times to express the time. This process could also be used to describe the date.
The time telling method is simple which allows the case to be simple in its aesthetic. The movement of the disc adds animation, the simple form of the disc allows for a variety of images or designs. The strap is simple but organic and would lend itself to easy removal of the watch body allowing for interchangability and customisation.
This watch concept is simple with a clean look and low profile lends itself as a uni-sex product. The possibility of changing the strap easily increases the appeal to individuals.
super! 5*/yes. i would buy it, and wear it with pride. only downside is you have to wait because it only shows one digit at a time…but i can handle that will a cool dynamic design like this!

Hi Heather, I’m glad you like it, it is a bit less clunky than some of my others.
I did ponder wheather or not to do a 4 disc version that could show 4 numbers at the same time. but this would obviouly be more complicated and may look a bit much.
Thank you very much for your comment! π

Wow yes, thats nice! What a cool idea! I love it. Looks cool and alien! The division of the case it stylish. One open and cryptic part, one massive and readable part. The straps, especially how they transform to the case, are very appealing to me. Also cool material variants you show there. I guess you can press the button to scroll through the digits right? Would be good. This is a 5*/YES tokyoflashy watch. Good luck Peter!

I didn’t expect to see this one so soon, yeah its a bit different to some of my earlier ones.
The irony is the strap was meant for another watch that I had to scrap cos it had simularities to another.
But it workes with is design so all is well. When you say scroll through the symbols do you mean when its not showing the time like an animation? I can’t see why not. Thanks for the vote and the comment Sam! π

Peter, this is my favorite case/strap design of yours — the brushed metal one is great! The display idea is good, the only concern I have is whether the viewing angle is limited. If you aren’t looking straight ahead at the digit, can you still read it? Pressing the button four times isn’t a problem in my book.

I glad you like it, the viewing angle shouldn’t be a problem, I made the viewer quite thick which reduces the angle a bit but it could be thinner. The button would only need to be pressed once, it would display the four numbers in sequence with a short pause between numbers. Thanks for the feedback

Thanx Firdaus,
I must admit I don’t quite know how the mechinism would work for this, I imagine it would have a small motor to rotate this disc with a simple program to control it to show the appropiate sequence for the time. Im sure this was be easy for TF! x^^x

I would definitely work

This is rather funky, I like the fact you could have different designs on the face and maybe different colored straps. The cryptic symbols are also cool! 5 stars and Yes

Hi Pete, a watch with a beautiful line.
The idea of ββselective window is original, now that the disk should be fast enough to memorize the numbers, one by one.
For the idea and the drawing: 5 * and Yes!
LikeLike
Yeah it would need to move quickly between the numbers otherwise you might forget the first numbers.
Thanks for the feedback Patrick! π

Hey Pete! Very cool concept and i love the styling – especially the split strap. I would be happy to read the numbers one after another, want to see an amimation of it before placing my order :p

hehe, cheers Keiron. I’d like to see an animation too! Really must get around to re-learning animations.

The shape is futuristic & serious, it reminds me of a robotic snake, beautiful & unusual. The mechanism is clever. As mentioned above it should run fast to be user friendly, but the speed would magnify the technological feel to the watch. Another great concept !

Ouch 3.0? Hm, I just hope, the way you handle the numbers gets noticed enough, cause it’s just cool. I like the Quad version more but the original can’t be ignored. Good luck Sir Peter π

Thanks Sam, yeah 3.0 is a bit harsh! waiting for the quad version to slump to this level!
I wonder if TF will treat them as seperate entires or take an average?
Either way the comments tell a more positive story!
Not long left to go! π

Not long left on this entry so will wrap things up.
This design seemed pretty well recieved and got some very positive comments!
The score is a little disapointing but no supprises there.
So all thats left to do is thank everyone who took the time to comment, share and vote honestly!
The updated four disk version is still live on the blog so if you like this check it out.
Thanks folks
Kind regards
