Buzz Watch Design – With a ‘Double Micro Vibrator’ – For Men & Women

Design submitted by Tamas from Hungary.

Tamas describes his concept as “a watch that was invented for all human beings. A concept that doesn’t distinguish between men and women or the different ways they get their information.”

In creating this concept, Tamas removed all visible and audible elements like clock hands, LED signals and micro speakers. Buzz works with a ‘double micro vibrator’, similar to the kind that is used in mobile phones. One is positioned on the wrist top where the watch usually sits, the other on the underside of the wrist. The design is focussed on the two sides of the wrist. The upper side for the HOUR and MONTH, the lower side for the MINUTE and DAY.

Buzz caresses your wrist with a sensual impulse that is understandable for all of us. It vibrates the time and date, looks unique and futuristic and transmits the philosophy of a 100% democracy in equality, taste, style, desires, needs and all things that are human.

Buzz tells the time using a series of vibrational impulses. The signal that comes from the upper case means ‘1’ and that comes from the lower case means ’10’. E.g. 1 lower signal, 2 upper signal, intermission, 2 lower signal, 8 upper signal = 12:28 or 28th Dec. It depends on if one pushes the time or date button.

A revolutionary way of sensing the time that involves our senses that have never been used for finding out the time before. The owner can tell the time without having a look at his watch.

  1. Great concept. Would be great for teachers or during meeting or speech so that you don’t have to look at the time. I think you forgot one function though. Alarm. A vibrating alarm is very useful for people who don’t want to wake up the person sleeping next to them. Renderings are very nice. 🙂

  2. Oh yes alarm please. Maybe a stronger vibration then. This watch reminds me of the Nemoto Vibration watch (September 9th). This one has a more clever vibration code. With a decent “buzz” engraving I would buy it.

  3. The alarm function is extremely good idea! I’ve found out how can set the time and date and this method is also perfect for setting alarm! If you would see this method I will make a new illustration! Thank you for your feedbacks guys!

  4. WOW! , this incredible design although something RUDE, I believe that a bad ass girl probably would wear it. the concept is quite original and outside the conventional thing.

    However, I think it has its disadvantages:

    1. the vibrating system can be confusing if the time intervals are not good, that means waiting for distinguishing perfectly serious when an average of 15-30 sec. I think it is too much and not be error-free.

    2. the design is really cool, and in my opinion I feel that to make it interesting and keep the aesthetic of the brand, it would be desirable that the legend “BUZZ” will light a color to determine the hours and another color to determine the minutes, that help avoid errors in counting.

    Although this design could include a new market: a blind person would love to use this system and still be fashionable

    Congratulation …Its your design It’s really cool!!!

  5. Like an idea but there some disadvanages:

    1. I think that x10 in vibrator 2 its too much. In last example (01:18) or whenever there would be more than 5/6 minutes/hours it would be very confusing. My solution – instead of 2 “options” (1 vibrate / 2 vibrate) make 3 “options” ( 1 vibrate / 2 vibrate / 1 and 2 vibrates at the same time).
    For example:
    1 and 2 => 10x
    1 => 5x
    2 => 1x
    …or something like that. It would be much easier to read the time.
    2. IMO alarm option is nice but without screen it will be so painful to use it.

  6. I think “copypaste” is correct. This is a great concept, but the execution is lacking. Not only is the number of vibrations prohibitive if you use that method, but it takes too long to sit there and count them all.

    You need to have different types or lengths of vibration to give the different digits, not just “top” and “bottom”.

    Also, the case is almost perfect, but nobody who loves the otherwise minimalist design is then going to accept something that says “BUZZ” on it. The clumsy text (or any text, really) defeats the whole effect of the cool, sleek design. Pick one or the other.

    The alarm idea someone posted is a great one too.

  7. wow!! Here is something really new!! I love it! I guess it can still be improve to make it more easy to understand the time. Maybe by having more vibrating areas? I don’t know I m not sure about that but the buzz concept for a watch is defenitly great and it s a shame the usability doesn’t seems perfect so fare!

  8. I loved this concept! One thing – I assume, a vibration is supposed to be a bit stronger, however, not that strong to make a wrist tremble.
