June 10th, 2013
Tentacle-01

Design submitted by Peter from the UK.

Peter says: This design is inspired by a combination of sci-fi and the natural world. I wanted to come up with a design that has a simple clutter free bio-mechanical look with a retro feel that could be worn as a piece of jewellery that happens to also tell the time. “Tentacle” was the result which looks like a cross between an arm from a “War of the worlds” tripod and a crustacean.

RESET watch tilts time to your wrist movement.

June 7th, 2013
sam-jerichow-reset-00_opt

Design submitted by Sam from Germany.

Sam says: This watch concept is a proposal for the usage of an accelerometer. The tilting angle of the watch could define the look of the display. Only one special angle lets the watch show the time in a readable fashion. The wearer could define this angle by pressing a button when facing the display. Doing so would RESET the display. Any other angle different from the defined one, causes the numbers to dissolve. The bigger the tilting angle, the stronger the effect.

To boldly go where no other watch has gone before!

Excelsior-01

Design submitted by Peter from the UK.

Peter says: I have submitted a few analogue designs in the past and most were perhaps a little too imaginative. They tended to be technically un-feasible and required expensive bespoke mechanisms to allow them to work. For this concept I decided to go back to basics and use a traditional disc style analogue time telling using similar construction to “Uzumaki”

Design submitted by Sam from Germany.

Sam says: I was sketching for an analog based sci-fi E-paper display based on half circles. I took the advantage of E-paper towards LCD to hide and create display gaps whenever pleasing. So I created these half circle segments whose repetition, the echoing, has a deeper meaning for the time telling. Read the rest of this entry »
