A new concept from the Tokyoflash Design Studio.
Introducing a fun concept watch design with an original display that should appeal to anyone with an inquisitive mind. The square-shaped colored LCD screen is made up of a a number of mysterious markings. Heather says: “I like the idea of digital watches that are not obvious at first glance, yet can easily be read. This is a digital watch with an “always on” display and is unisex. A clever watch design from Laszlo here which uses e-ink technology to display the time and date. This watch design is very simple to read as you can see from the images below. A new concept from the Tokyoflash Design Studio.
Customization is the theme with this concept watch design. Watches from Tokyoflash Japan are all original, unique designs but this design idea takes personalization to a different level.
The watch module is a touch screen LCD display and is a self contained unit, so it can be easily transferred between different watch cases, allowing you to more freedom to choose a color and a shape that suits you. Looking at this watch design face on, you might be fooled into thinking that the LCD display is simply made up of cryptic lines and blocks. Once you’ve cracked it however, the time is as easy to read as any other digital watch. Just flick your wrist to change the angle and reading the numbers will become clear. This LCD concept watch design presents the time in negative space. The unlit spaces on the screen show digital numbers which are highlighted by the bright dots around them. Kisai Kaidoku is the second fan-submitted concept to become reality from the Tokyoflash Design Studio Blog. The conceptual idea for Kisai Kaidoku was submitted in September 2010 by a reader of the blog and fan of Tokyoflash, 15 year old Tynan Mayhew from Canada.

It’s summer time and it’s hotting up outside, but be careful, UV levels are increasing and it’s important to protect yourself against excessive exposure to UV light which can cause sunburn, eye damage and skin cancer.

This watch design tells the time like a standard analog watch, the difference is in how it does it. Everyone’s done the school physics experiment where you pour iron fillings on a paper with a magnet underneath. Anders says that that was the inspiration for this concept. Sam says: “Two ideas inspired me to come up with this watch design. The first came from thinking about Japan a lot these days. I have seen people wearing the white space with the red dot (the Japanese flag) in many variations. Be it a sticker or a button or a cap. I wanted to design a wrist watch that reminds me, that there is always a future for Japan. Other people have their own thoughts about it… My second idea was to make a simple and unusual analog watch design.
