‘Deflection’ analog watch uses optical distortion to tell the time

Peter says: Back in August 2012 I submitted a design called “Grid” which displayed the time in a very simple analogue format using a projected grid onto slightly 3D looking hands or discs. This gave the watch a retro futuristic look but would have been tricky to make due to the projection element.

This design called “Deflection” gets around this issue but retains the retro futuristic look.

Icon LED watch with customizable palettes

Gordon says: This is ICON. A watch that can be customized by choosing from a palette of materials to fit the wearer’s style.  I was going for a minimalistic style that was rugged and modern, but not too rugged.  I think this watch is unique because it uses what i like to call a 11-4-11 method of telling time.  That is to say 11 lights for the hours, 11 lights for the 5 minute intervals and 4 lights for the single minutes. Timur says: Flexibility of time. Time seeing of this watch is very simple.

The hour and minutes will be shown by lines. If we take the main big  picture, first line shows that it is 6 o clock, the second line shows that  it pasts 15 minutes, so it is 6.15.

Quicksilver LCD watch tells time with virtual droplets of Mercury

Sam says: I checked my thermometer recently (thanks to a summer flu) and and it’s one that works with quicksilver. It made me think about a mirror LCD display that could pretend to be made of quicksilver drops. I decided for a simple analog based digital display. The inspiration came from the observation of quicksilver forming drops before joining a bigger mass of itself.
