Pawel says: My objective was to come up with a futuristic display design, that comprises a universal concept that is mysterious yet understood by many and has an underlying deep meaning. Some inspiration for the display design came from the inside-out concept in Sam’s NEON IO watch.

The minute becomes meaningless, since there are 60 of those in an ‘hour’ and 24 of those in a ‘day.’ Star faring humans long ago began using the Kilosecond. Metric time, for when the rotation of a distant homeworld no longer holds any bearing.

However, transparent displays are uncommon and still appear futuristic to us. An idea of a transparent watch is fascinating to me. Henry says: I wanted something unique than a traditional round or square watch. Watching some sci-fi movies I liked the idea of a stretch/oblong face. Afterwards I tried to make it simple to read and design while having a futuristic look and have the face able to flip for right wrist wearing.

Eivind says: I got my inspiration from classic science fiction, like 2001: A Space Odyssey and games like Mass effect and Deus EX. I liked the minimalistic design of the equipment and different tools. The style is simple, but it stands out. I also got inspiration from the popular products on the market today, like an iPhone or a pair of beats by Dr.Dre headphones.

Colby says: The idea for the ‘Abandon’ came from a long time obsession with anything post-apocalyptic. Recently there’s been an abundance of movies, series and games which embrace nuclear fallout, zombie or robotic-alien themes. When challenged with the task of designing a watch, this was a strong influence.

Peter says: This is “QuadOrbium” The watch is loosely inspired by the humble bicycle combination lock.
The gyneric format of the inspiration tends to consist of four discs with numbers printed on them that your scroll untill the correct combination of numbers are displayed and the lock can be disengaged.

Sam says: The BLACK WIDOW is inspired by the red hourglass marking of a spider with the same name. This marking and the combination of red and glossy black led to this watch concept.

Sam says: There are two trends that inspired me to make the concept for L|NK. Tokyoflash once commented this on one of my designs and pointed towards an exciting future: “…it would work well in e-paper. There is a monochrome variety (e.g.: black/red, black/blue, black/pink) which we are working hard to develop into watches. It can’t come soon enough as far as we are concerned as it will really open up possibilities.” Watches that are connected to your phone or computer, are becoming more and more popular so I gave another smartwatch a chance.

Peter says: I have an interest in retro style computer games, the old 8 bit type stuff that tended to consist of wire frames to describe 3D forms. I figured this would make a nice watch face.

We got our hands on an upcoming device that looks very interesting to us. It’s called 2K64 and it’s a cool retro style time telling accessory that covers elements from different centuries.
