Design submitted by Sam from Germany.

Sam says: There are two trends that inspired me to make the concept for L|NK. Tokyoflash once commented this on one of my designs and pointed towards an exciting future: “…it would work well in e-paper. There is a monochrome variety (e.g.: black/red, black/blue, black/pink) which we are working hard to develop into watches. It can’t come soon enough as far as we are concerned as it will really open up possibilities.” Watches that are connected to your phone or computer, are becoming more and more popular so I gave another smartwatch a chance.

Keysay watch design inspired by keyboard symbols.

July 27th, 2012
KEYSAY-6

Design submitted by Jose from Spain.

Jose says: I could say that this idea came to me after exciting reading about the machine “Enigma”, developed by the Germans to encrypt their messages during II World War, or has been the result of using a metalanguage as Leetspeak, or such once a strange code suggested by a science fiction movie, but none of this would be true. The truth, is that the idea came accidentally to stay absorbed looking at the mini keyboard of my Macbook; suddenly, there it was, the first line of keys, and above each number a symbol, and thus the ¡1 to 0!.

Design submitted by Sam from Germany.

Sam says: This concept began experimentally with sketching for hexagon based numbers. After a while, the numbers developed into these round ones, that consist of six circle segments and a center dot. I played with the number layout and soon everything reminded me of some sci-fi technology.

Division LCD Watch tells time in segments.

May 25th, 2012
Division Preview Animation

Design submitted by Peter from the UK.

Peter says: I have noticed a trend with the latest releases of new watches that TF prefer designs that are simple/feasible and predominately LCD.

So I decided to create a watch which fitted this criteria. I had two designs in mind, one was a four dialled lcd analogue design that shared the same time telling method a “hunter time killer” and a new time telling method which involves lines dissecting a shape to create numbers of segments. I decided to merge these designs to create a very simple time telling method that would be very easy to implement. Division was born. Read the rest of this entry »
