Following the popularity of the original Turbine I decided  that I would like to make a more feasible version, as this seemed to be the biggest stumbling block with the original.

(English) Hey everyone, Happy New Year!

Firstly, let me apologise if we, “Tokyoflash” haven’t been giving enough feedback & response on the blog. The reason is that we are just really, really busy. To give you some idea, at the time of writing, there are about 30 watch designs at various stages of development.

Secondly, a HUGE thank you to everyone who has sent in a design, contributed to or commented on the blog. We are so pleased that you guys have made this the best watch design blog we have ever seen. There are literally hundreds of awesome ideas pouring in from all over the world and people are even building new friendships though their passion for design.

Kisai RPM – Concept To Reality

(English) Kisai RPM is the first concept to become reality from the Tokyoflash Design Studio Blog. The conceptual idea for RPM was submitted in February 2010 by a reader of the blog, James Fursedon.

It was rendered by Tokyoflash and was voted as one of the most popular designs by fans on the blog. Kisai RPM is now available to buy here.

The RPM concept design that was featured on February 5th has made it to the next stage of development and is now under technical consideration. We really appreciate the feedback everyone provided and have carefully considered each comment.

A great look for DJ’s and ideal for time telling in the dark, this concept has the appearance of a turntable with its black face raised at different levels.

The absence of a dial or numbers on the round face create a mysterious look, but the time can be read easily; rings of light at the edge of the face indicate hours in blue and five minute intervals in green, in exactly the same positions as on a clock face. Four red LED’s at the top show minutes 1-4. The time display is activated by touching the sensor in the center of the face.
