‘Sliced’ LED watch slashes its way though time.

Design submitted by Heather from the USA.

Heather says: I thought about digits that are slashed through, but can still be read easily, and came up with the Sliced LED watch concept.  The digits are fairly basic 7-segment digits, with some parallel slashes sliced through some unnecessary pieces, causing these new digits to require more than 7 LEDs each.

The time reading is fairly self explanatory.  Hours are shown using the top two digits, and minutes are shown using the bottom two.  The animation provided shows time elapsing from 9:57 to 10:06.

The design has a bit of a futuristic or alien theme, so Sliced would likely appeal to Sci-fi fans.

    • Thanks for your support, Lloyd. 🙂
I appreciate that you took the time to leave a comment – I don’t know why this submission is so lacking in comments/recognition. Maybe my 3D work just isn’t polished enough. ?

  1. Looks nice with a slightly cryptic appearence but easy to read. Looks very Tokyoflashy! The black and yellow one for me please! 5/Y Best of luck! 😀

    • Thanks Pete. I thought it fits the “Tokyoflashy” style as well, but very few are chatty today. 😦
Thanks for always showing your support! 🙂

  2. I like the fractured look of the numbers and the diagonal tendency of the display. The shifty position of the numbers makes the whole display a little futurustic artwork. Wanna wanna. Good luck, 5*/YES, ^^

  3. Another great design Heather. I also think the black and yellow one is best. 5*/Y from me. Hope the ratings and votes increase – I’d love one of these.

  4. The design of the numbers; the way they are segmented & the diagonal lines, is a solid concept that looks good exactly as you have illustrated.
The case & strap are a little plain, but thats OK because as long as you can see past that & take the idea for its presentation of numbers, then the details of strap & case can come later.
I can imagine this is some wildly different cases, perhaps a bracelet style made of diagonal metal strips that wrap around your whole wrist – the numbers shine though the gaps.

    • Thank you, Tokyoflash! I really appreciate your compliment about the number design. I intended for the case and strap to be open to interpretation, so I figured if I leave it plain, it’s easy to allow others imaginations to run wild 😉
Bracelet style, similar to what you describe, is what I originally imagined, but I did not want to make it look too feminine, and besides, my 3D skills are not the best. 🙂 Thanks for seeing through the simplicity!
