I like the case/digits shape. But the digits shouldn’t be the same color as the border, for a better visibility. The eyelid closing/opening should be a short animation & not every minute. ( like 5 seconds every 10-15 minutes )

Interesting way of making a feature of the display being off some of the time. If the display could have an opening /closing animation even better. (perhaps the backlighting could be zoned to allow for gradual illumination from the centre outwards etc) With a few styling tweaks could look pretty cool. Best of luck Andrew!
