Tunnel LCD watch has retro graphics appeal.

Design submitted by Laszlo from Hungary.

Laszlo says: This watch keeps its LCD screen always on and uses a zoom effect on the digits to make you feel like traveling in a tunnel. The time is shown in four phases and the centrally located small squares help to distinguish the phases. Top left: first digit of the hours, top right: second digit of the hours, bottom left: first digit of minutes, bottom right: second digit of the minutes.

  1. Not my favorit Laszlo design, but I can imagine this being popular. I prefer your older tunnel based design from way back when. Simple retro feel is nice tho! Best of luck! 😀

  2. I like the fact that the watch is simply minimal. It’s hard to find what is special but the animation convinced me enough to get one provided that there’s black + green LCD version.

  3. Oh I started a similar idea back then, when you showed it on facebook. I’m glad our ideas don’t collide 😉

I really like the minimalistic style of the watch. Perfect for display fun. The ever changing display is a big advantage here.

I also like the zoom-in effect. The 4 squares are just irrititating. First I thought, that is where the numbers come from, but they come from the center every time. They mark the position in time. I would say, if there is a break of one second between the last and the first digit, time can be told too. 1 2 3 4 # 1 2 3 4 # etc. The changing squares emphasize the time phases too much. A more continuous tunnel effect would be more striking.

I hope you see my point 🙂 Good luck Laszlo!

  4. Hey Laszlo…I agree with Sam’s critique above…the squares are a bit irritating, but the zoom in idea is really cool! Good luck!
