Honeycomb LCD watch, 2 ways to tell the time.

Design Submitted by Peter from the UK.

Peter says: The idea for this watch was inspired by honeycomb as the name suggests. The naturally occurring structures are both beautiful and have a high strength to weight ratio. I found the segmentation of the honeycomb shape very appealing and though it would make a novel time display.

This design has two time telling methods: one digital using hexagon shaped numbers, the second is a digital analogue layout. Both displays are spread across four segments: two for hours and two for minutes. The remaining segments surrounding the four main time telling ones randomly display other information, this could include date, am/pm, 12hr/24hr, alarm, chime, logo as well as downloaded modes. The controls are soft touch buttons also in the shape of the honeycomb segments.

This design is organic in form and will hopefully appeal to both sexes, the honeycomb display has a futuristic look which may appeal to gadget lovers. The natural theme may also appeal to more environmentally aware people.

This designs stands out because it is visually striking but very simple from a manufacturing perspective. The display would consist of one LCD screen covered by a perforated rubber cover which divides it into the honeycomb segments.

The enthesis for this design is viability using current TF manufacturing processes.

    • Hi Heather,
Yeah hexes or hexi whatever the plural is, are cool!
For this to be mentioned in the same sentence as derezzed or spider is a huge compliment, derezzed was one of my favorit designs from Sam and well worthy of prduction imho. I have made a conserted effort to make my new designs more feasible so LCD was the obvious choice for this one. Glad you likey! Thanks for the 50 and the yup! πŸ˜€

  4. So this is the watch. I love everything about this design, nothing negative to say here. Honeycomb, as the name implies might attract many prospective buyers just like how ants attracted to sugar. Awesome Pitu-chin!

    • Im sorry your Hexagon Inspired design did not feature on the blog, I would have liked to have seen it!
Sadly TF cannot show every design, I have many designs that have not made the blog myself.
The honey-comb form is a nice inspiration which leds itself to a multitude of products.
Thank you for supporting this version and I hope you have more joy in the future. x^^x
