Design submitted by Cesar from Spain.
Cesar says: I own a Mazda RX8 which is famed for its Renesis Rotary engine. Inspired by the rotor and its eccentric movement I designed this watch.
This watch uses a conventional analogue movement, but instead of conventional hands this uses a eccentric cam and a gear to drive a triangular rotor hand, with the right gearing this hand highlights the hours, the eccentric cam highlights the minutes. The look of the watch always changes as the rotor moves around the face imitating the movement of the rotor in the engine, the minutes move with the rotor like a constantly moving sculpture.
Hopefully this design will appeal to fellow petrol heads, people who like mechanical and analogue watches.
The inspiration used creates a unique and ever changing mechanical sculpture.
This concept should be easily realised as should be made possible with a standard analogue movement.
