Design submitted by Peter from UK.
The inspiration for this watch design came from bio-metric security scanners.
To see the time, you place a finger or thumb on the touch-sensitive screen. The watch then perfumes a scan of your digit. After the scan, the watch highlights parts of your print in three different colors to display the time. Green sections for hours, red for 5 minute group, and yellow for 2 minute group.
The watch is very sophisticated looking in gloss black so it will appeal to people who like up-market products. The neon green display will also appeal to any fans of Matrix films.
Hi Pete, a beautiful watch, but a little difficult to read, at least in the morning.
I like the idea of innovation and a little crazy, but that’s what I vote, 5 * and Yes!

I should probably mention that the reason for the rectangular shape of the case, is that I imagine this design could be built into existing TF watch housing. This would allow it to be more cost effective than a totally new watch (minimal tooling etc) This would also allow it to be at the lower end of the price band, a good entry level watch.

Cool watch! I had the same idea, but a different way to read the time 🙂

Thats reasuring GMTA!
Yeah I just liked the image and the techi feel of something scanning your digit.
I couldn’t think of a simpler way of using the print to describe the time other than some sort of analogue display.
I look forward to seeing how you went about it. Have you submitted your design yet?
Thanks for the comment! 😀

Wow, I love the idea behind this one, very 007!
I agee with Patrick that it could be easier to read, I like the scanning operation, would look very trick.
Would there be only one style of finger-print? because to my knowledge there are a few main patterns.
Would be cool if you could pick the appropiate one! Thats a minor point tho. 5 Stars/Yes

I had this conversation with Sam on my page, It would be nice if you could have replaceable faces with the different moulded patterns on them which universally relate to the lights in the watch. Then you could pick the appropiate one for you or your partner etc.
Im glad you likey, thanks for the vote! 😀

Now this is cool, very gadgety. I like the way it scans your finger, would impress your friends.
I like the idea of custom faces to suite the user that would be nice. 5*/Yes

Im glad you like the priciple.
I just had a thought, what would also be nice is the KISAI logo could be part of the print, that would be cool.
Thanks for the feedback! 🙂

+ the theme! The fingerprint display is really cool!
+ the scanning animation. Consequent decision, definitely something to make people look
– the time reading. The cooler the display, the harder the time reading… at least this time. I can’t say I have a good alternative to counting shapes. I had a fingerprint idea too, made the print very abstract in favor of readability and kinda lost the original image. Not easy 🙂
+/- the time reading was the toughest point. If this wouldn’t be a problem anymore, then there could be done something to individualize the watch for the wearer. I agree with Cole about the variable display patterns. That would give the wearer the feeling to be scanned personally instead of activating a display, that’s already there.
– Maybe the off display is too unspectacular. If there would be a little impression where to put your thumb, then the watch would look “please touch me”-ish all the day.
I support this idea, cause it has a super cool theme that is worth improving. Keep up the inspireing and playful way of thinking 😀

I agree that the time telling is tricky on this one, unless there was a clever way of having an abstract digital display across the various parts of the print?
I also agree that the print area could be sunken into the face making it more visual when not in use and perhaps more tactile.
Thanks for the breakdown and the positvity! 🙂

Good hit pete, the design is cool, but when it comes to time telling, its too complicated to me. The colorful also doesn’t match bio metric theme imo.

The time telling method needs work, hopefully TF will see potential in the concept if not the time telling method. Most of the bio-readers I have seen tend to be green on black, the only way I could think of using less colour is to create zones, which makes the print less obvious.
Thanks for the comment Firdaus! 😀

This is cool! I love the look of the thing. The time diplay could be clearer but I could live with that.
God idea about being built into existing watch housings, makes it more commercially viable. 5* and why not?

You might try show a more understandable explanation on how to read the time, I just can’t seem to figure this one out at all. Maybe it is cool but if i cold understand the time reading method i would have given it a higher score, I gave it a 1 and a NO.

Im sorry you had trouble reading the time, here is a simple explanation:
The green blocks are 1 hour each, 5 x green blocks = 5 hours
The red blocks are 5min each, 5 x red blocks = 25mins
The yellow blocks are 2min each, 2 x yellow blocks = 4mins (add the lot together) = 5:29
I hope this helps.

i really like this concept (from a professional point of view) it’s original and very tokyoflashy a bit difficult to read but it is tf after all.
now my traditional : i just have one critic… how do you display 1h03 or 6h01? 😉
4*

…good question!

1:03 = 11 red blocks, 4 yellow blocks
6:01 = 5 green blocks 11 red blocks, 3 yellow blocks
I didn’t think many would like this one so I’m very happy you do! 🙂

I can imagine that would be quite easy to do using the same method as the time.

Thanks for all the comments and votes people.
As per usual this entry will soon be in the hands of the TF gods, hopefully they see potential in this humble idea.
