Design submitted by Cory from the USA.
Cory says: “Golden Ratio, known also as Phi or Fibonacci proportion, is pervasive throughout nature. φ is the mathematical symbol for it and it forms a beautiful loop called the Golden Spiral. You can see it in everything from tiny sea horses, nautilus shells, ram’s horns, the human face, and even galaxies. It is now also represented in this analog watch design.
The hands are the same length, so you have to know the secret. The white hand shows minutes, and the black hand shows hours.
Such a design could be enjoyed by those who appreciate the ‘divine proportion’ as φ is sometimes referred. Artists throughout the ages have used phi in their work, as it appeals to the eye, since so many things in nature follow the ratio as precisely as they do.
The face of the watch has the golden spiral prominently displayed, with the hands matching the colors of each opposing spiral. Golden symmetry was also used in creating the case, as the connections to the strap meet the circular piece at φ of the total length of the case.”

Well I can see mandy’s point. But it is quite a diversion too the high tech watches here. It has a nice base topic and the execution is really good. And it is definitely feasible. This is a good watch for a series (same case, different themes) like the Nekura watches. Nice one. Good luck!

Thanks for the defense, Sam, but none is needed. Some will like, some not so much. I’m ok with that. Such is the way of creativity. I’ll keep creating and hope that my artistic eye matches up with a wider audience occasionally

Oh I kept it pretty neutral Cory
I would’ve told you, if this watch strikes me off the stool (like we say in germany, when something dazzles us). You can say, people won’t like it, but you could also say that about alot of watches already existing out there – that’s life. The main thing is, you enjoy the way from the idea to the final images.

Looks good Cory, really like the theme, definately one of your more conservatively styled watches but still i’m sure it would be popular amongst mathematicians. Very nice graphics as always.

Thx, K. My last few designs have been a bit out there, so I figured I’d do a more laid back casual thing for once. Not quite minimalist, but not traditional either. Not for everyone, certainly, but I enjoyed making it.

He connections to the strap meet the circular piece at φ of the total length of the case.

Wow, surprised at Mandy’s comment there. I really like this design. Sometimes simple is best, and this would be ideal for wearing on more subtle occasions. I like the theme, certainly a talking point. I would like to add this to my Tokyoflash collection if it is made.

Beautiful images of an interesting watch. I wished, you intergrated the spiral and the squares more into the time reading instead of just having those as background of a normal analog watch. Anjali is completely right, the connections to the strap meet the circular piece at φ of the total length of the case.

Nice watch indeed, but I am willing to see watch concept that looks different from Cory, maybe u should do little more brainstorming and thinking outside the box? I say this honestly 4 ur own good, no fake fancy comment from me. Oh now I sounds like a dude….

But Firdaus, you have implied that there is even a box of which to think outside, which there is not.

Eh? hehehe…

I’m glad you like, Lee-sama! Casual is sometimes best, and this is my most laid back design so far.
