Slash – An LED Watch Design With Lines

Design submitted by Jordan from Canada.

Jordan says: “I was doodling on the back of a French test and I came up with this watch design.

The lines of light running horizontally represent hours. When the light is green, it counts as an hour. The vertical slashed line of light running through the center of the watch represents minutes. The hour lights represent 10 minute milestones.

I can see this watch design appealing mostly to men and teenage boys. It’s probably not well suited for women. It’s purely based off of lines, no glass screen, and has a sleek black plastic strap.”

  1. Cool! This reminds me of Moses parting the Red Sea 😀 This is a nice and minimalistic LED watch. Maybe too minimalistic when it comes to the accuracy of the minutes ( it is like an analog watch with 10 minute indicators only) for many people, but I like it. I also like that the green horizontal bars come from above like the slash, looks like a growing infection. You already see, this display invites to interpretations – that is a big plus. The simple box as case and the straps are chosen wisely, hehe. Good work Jordan. Welcome to the blog!

    • Thanks Sam =) Being my first concept watch, it’s not as artistic or well laid out as I had originally hoped for, but I’m glad you like it.

  2. Cool Idea! I like how the slash has a bit of an angle in the middle, it breaks up the flow of the hour markers nicely. I think there should be more square case concepts on here; the ones that have been made by TF are some of the most progressive designs, Sensai, Tibida, Mugen.

  3. It’s minimal and incorporates the time into a very simple layout but is not for me… it’s a bit lacking in character. I have a few watches from Tokyoflash and I like to explain them to friends and people I meet. Like R75 with it’s three systems of time telling or Traffic which has a display like a city road map. I wouldn’t quite know what to say about this one.

  4. I’m sorry to be negative but I think this design is rather dull. It’s not artistic. Just a bunch of lines.
