Zip Up! Watch Design

Inspired by zippers, the watch body and face are made from aluminum, with a choice of black or silver, like Kisai Tenmetsu watch.  Eleven black tubes rise slightly from the surface, like Kisai Keisan watch.

A sleek and interesting watch even when off.  The five tubes on the left count the hours in binary — the top four, when lit, mean +1, +2, +4, and +8, while the fifth, when lit, means PM.  The six tubes on the right count the minutes in binary, +1, +2, +4, +8, +16, and +32.

  3. zip zip 🙂 Yes it looks cool. Th etime reading is too hard for me. 1+ 2+2^3=11 & 1 + 2^2 + 2^4 = 21 means 11:21 Even when this equation would be written on the watch, it would take too long 🙂 But it is a cool looking binary watch. Nice LED bars, zipper arrangement is remarkable.

    • @Samukun. Thanks. Binary watches are an acquired taste, but they’re really not hard to read after a little practice. Binary by itself isn’t new (Tokyoflash has had a few, but I think the arrangement is.

      • Oh I have a binary watch at home 🙂 I also work with binary numbers but mostly 64, 128, 256, 512 and 1024, tehehe. Your binary watch is maybe the first, I am willing to learn if the price is ok.

  6. Solid watch design. One observation – Eliminate the “PM” bar and turn it into a 16 for a 24-hour watch or make that into an option. You could also tell the date with this watch which is another plus. Either way, a nice time piece. Only quibble – No seconds hand so no stopwatch capability.

    • Steve, you read my mind about the PM bar being used as a 16 for a 24-hour display. Definitely agree it should be an option.

      About seconds…I’ll have to think about incorporating seconds into a binary design. Stopwatch you say? Hmmm.
