Shifting Time Watch Design

A car inspired watch, this watch design is all about simplicity.  No need to add lines or dots.  The gauge tells you the minutes and the shift diagram the hours.

When the watch is lit in blue, the number in the shift diagram tells you the exact hour digit.  When in red, double the number of the hour digit to tell the time.

This design almost looks like an ordinary watch but a closer look will reveal its surprising way of telling time.  Car enthusiasts will surely be drawn to this watch.

  1. Cool idea with the tachometer look. And the time telling way is nice. 6 hours x two colors and the full 60 minutes – pretty easy to read. Case and display could be more stylish. As you said, it almost looks like a normal watch. Quite a biker watch. 1mph in the 3rd gear… Cool 😀

  2. I think the face is great! Case and strap could be done better. Maybe carbon fiber to give it that high performance look, or add some more car elements to the case. Also I don’t understand the hours, is the Reverse 6 hour marker? If so then the time is wrong in the picture. How do you come up with 6:44? Nice concept for sure and I could see people liking this design for sure.

    • My last design had a carbon fiber strap with red stitching but, it didnt look too good because the software I use is not that good. This time I wanted to try something different so that strap is supposed to look like a seat belt strap, I even drew a seat belt buckle but, I guess tokyoflash didnt like it because they didnt post that picture. When the face is blue the number in the shift pattern tell you the exact time, when red all you do is double the hour number 3 blue=3 …… 3 red= 6

  3. Shouldn’t it be that if it’s red, it will be the number+6? Unless I’m missing something, you can’t go to 7, 9, or 11 using the doubling method (without lighting up more than 1 number, which I don’t think is meant to happen).

  4. Analog and digital? Ok cool. No oval case for me please. Time telling is easy. Seat belt like straps are a good idea. Vrooom vroooom!

  7. I really like the display idea here. Top marks for that. Not so keen on the case shape or the strap though. This has real potential I feel. Great work Juan.

  8. Cool concept. While the two color schemes as a multiplication factor are simple, Its not so obvious right away. I think thats where you’re loosing points bro. I’d suggest making a simpler design for users able to use straight out of the box disregarding instructions, or alter you’re photo to convey the message more deliberately
