Neon-ized LED Watch Design

After careful consideration of visitors’ comments on Logan’s other design submissions, he came up with his best design yet. Inspired by neon-advertising in dystopian sci-fi movies, this is simplicity and power combined in one entertaining design.

The time is represented by lines and 5 squares. Magenta lines for hours (1-12), yellow squares for tens of minutes, and cyan lines for single minutes (0-9). It may need a good eye for counting the lines but once you get the hang of it, it’s one enjoyable watch to wear. The color combination of magenta, yellow, and cyan also highlights its retro-futuristic style.

Once again, we are left in awe of Logan’s surprising ideas. Do you think it still needs any improvement?

  1. Nicely made, and simple to understand, but sort of difficult to read quickly.. Maybe give more space between the lines, or make odd and even numbers different shades of magenta and cyan. So if it’s 7:36, you could count 2,4,6-7, 3, 2,4,6. It would really help when the numbers get past 5..

  2. Yes, I really like this. It’s simple, beautiful and pretty straight forward to read.

Reminds me a bit of some software I used to use at school back in the 90’s called LOGO where you inputted instructions and and it moved the turtle cursor to make a drawing. Classic. Love the simple magenta, cyan and yellow theme too.

  3. Once again Logan did it !

Nice job Logan. I like the concept, but I prefer metalic strap for wathces.

Reading the time is kinda difficult. I propose you to make evert third line wider then others, in this way you can count them pretty quikly.

I like the concept, is mathematic and beautiful, simple, very Tokyoflashy !!!!

    • GabrielBB and Selendrile: Like Tokyoflash’s Denshoku, I think this could have one or two notches on the case to help with the counting, and the animation would also help.

  4. Superb design, very stylish and I think it works perfectly with the strap.

Following on from the comments above about difficulty reading all the lines, have you thought of making the squares the hours? They could be displayed in 3 sets of 4 on separate diagonals making it easy
to read and giving a helix effect. You would then only need 5 Magenta lines instead of 12 eliminating the need for notches.

    Just a thought, otherwise brilliant.

  5. 意外と簡単に時刻が読めますね。色の組み合わせもネオンっぽくていい感じですね。ただ、もしこの表示方法使うんだったらもっとおもしろいパターンが出来るかも。

  6. Again awesome. Elegant solution with unique styling.
I really appreciate the watch designs on here that solve the problem of telling time in a graceful way. Its uncomplicated, only needs one quick explanation & you’ve got it. – at the same time Logan has managed to use simple lines to do this in an artistic way that doesn’t look forced or over done.

Its very 80’s isn’t it? – I’m sure I had a walkman or pencil case with this pattern at school – lol, only kidding – the 80’s graphic design feel is a compliment. Your choice of colours set that off perfectly.

  7. I LOVE this too! Its def very 80’s, reminds me of an old ‘Duran Duran’ or ‘Blondie’ album cover. Unlike the 80’s its not overdone – it’s very contemporary and artistic. I love that nobody would even know it was a watch unless they were told. Its really very cool!

  8. Readable without reading the description, well done. Not my taste with the intersecting squares though. Cool colors, very neon-ish. Pretty tokyo flashy.
